Today we will look at the second person of the trinity, The Son.
This statement will take the next four weeks and this morning we will be talking about the person of Jesus.
As we begin today, I want to start with a warning.
Warning
The TRUTH about who Jesus is, is crucial
Don’t be fooled by “reasonable” arguments
Do not be taken captive
Destroy error and lies
As we dig into our statement on The Son I want you to remember how important this is.
False Teachers, Demonic lies, Worldly Philosophies will creep in amongst us if we are not vigilant to study the Word and to live according to the Truth.
Our Statement on the Son
We believe the Son is our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who is fully God and fully man; one person with two natures.
He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born by the virgin Mary, grew in favor with God and man and lived a sinless life in perfect obedience to the Father’s will.
He was crucified under Pontius Pilate, died, was buried, rose from the dead, and in his resurrected body had fellowship with his disciples.
He is our perfect Prophet, Priest and King who ascended into Heaven where He sits at the right hand of the Father as our advocate.
As our Prophet, he makes the Truth of God known to mankind through the inspiration of scripture, his personal ministry, and the appointing of gifted teachers.
As our Priest, he satisfied the wrath of God against us by offering himself as the just payment for our sin.
He brings us into relationship with God by giving us his own righteousness, interceding with God on our behalf when we sin.
As our King, he defeated sin and death and stripped his enemies of power.
He is at the right hand of God reigning over his kingdom and ruling his church.
One day he will return in power and glory to bring judgment and reward.
