Introduction
Our Theme for 2022 is Pray first.
On the first Sunday of each month I am preaching a message on Prayer.
Today in our text we look at Jesus Prayer Promise in John 15:7.
What exactly is a promise?
Dictionary.com defines a promise as an express assurance on which expectation is to be based.
In 2 Peter 1:4
Today we examine one of these exceeding great and precious promises.
Some of you may remember that this verse was one of the Scripture Memory Verses we studied last year.
Today I would like to look a little deeper at this verse and include not just the verse, but the passage as a whole.
John Chapters 13-17 make up what is known as Jesus Farewell Discourse.
Chapter 15 focuses on Jesus teaching comparing himself to a vine and His disciples as the branches.
In this passage we find Jesus incredible prayer promise.
Let’s look at it together.
Body
I.
The Context of the Promise
8 times in Chapter 15 we find the word Fruit.
Fruit speaks to purpose
II.
The Conditions of the Promise
If ye abide in me.
2. …and my Word abides in you
III.
The Consequence of the Promise
Ye shall ask what you will, and it shall be done unto you.
Conclusion
Are you seeing God answer your prayers? or are the heaven’s brass?
Does God answer your prayers or do they seem to bounce off the ceiling?
Today we have a prayer promise, straight from the lips of Jesus.
But this promise is not a blank check.
It is not a Genie’s lamp that you just rub and get whatever you want.
When claiming this promise you must understand
It’s context
It’s conditions
It’s consequences
When you do you can expect the God of all Heaven to answer and move on your behalf.
