Leviticus 6:12–13 KJV 1900
And the fire upon the altar shall be burning in it; it shall not be put out: and the priest shall burn wood on it every morning, and lay the burnt offering in order upon it; and he shall burn thereon the fat of the peace offerings. The fire shall ever be burning upon the altar; it shall never go out.
Exodus 30:1 KJV 1900
And thou shalt make an altar to burn incense upon: of shittim wood shalt thou make it.
Exodus 30:6–9 KJV 1900
And thou shalt put it before the vail that is by the ark of the testimony, before the mercy seat that is over the testimony, where I will meet with thee. And Aaron shall burn thereon sweet incense every morning: when he dresseth the lamps, he shall burn incense upon it. And when Aaron lighteth the lamps at even, he shall burn incense upon it, a perpetual incense before the Lord throughout your generations. Ye shall offer no strange incense thereon, nor burnt sacrifice, nor meat offering; neither shall ye pour drink offering thereon.
Introduction:
The First Gate, The Altar of Burnt Offering, The Laver (Set it between the Tent of Meeting and the altar, and put water into it, with which Aaron and his sons are to wash their hands and feet).(Outer Court).
Second Gate, Table of Shew bread (refers to the cakes or loaves of bread which were always present or present bread), Seven Candle Sticks, The Veil, The Altar of Incense (Inner Court)
Holy of Holiness
Two altars which God demands to be up kept constantly for daily use.
When we take a glance back into the old testament we see a clear picture of the altar of service and the altar of communion.
God commanded them to build these two altars.
The altar for burnt sacrifice
It was placed in the outer courtyard before the tabernacle.
Animal sacrifice was burned every morning and every evening.
A fire was always ready to receive the sacrifice.
The altar of incense
The other altar was placed inside the tabernacle in the Holy place.
This altar was for one purpose only.
Only incense could be offered here.
Only the exact kind of incense prescribed by God Himself could be offered.
Nothing else must ever be burned on that altar.
The bible account carries God’s warning to Isreal.
Exodus 30:9 KJV 1900
Ye shall offer no strange incense thereon, nor burnt sacrifice, nor meat offering; neither shall ye pour drink offering thereon.
The purpose for both of these altars was distinct.
They could not be interchanged.
One altar stood outside.
The other altar stood inside.
Incense on this inside altar was burned every morning and evening and night.
It was just as necessary as the altar of burnt offerings.
The Truth
Romans 12:1–2 KJV 1900
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
The physical body of every christian believer is the temple or tabernacle of the Holy Spirit, God personal manifestation to the world in this present world.
1 Corinthians 6:19–20 KJV 1900
What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.
The same two altars are in every born again Christian life.
The altar of burnt offerings or the altar of my service to God.
a. These are my outward acts of testimony and contribution upon earth.
b. We are unworthy unless we make such a daily offering.
c. Our life must be continually used in His service.
2. There is another altar that must not be neglected, it stands hidden behind the curtain.
a. Its is our daily offering of praise and prayer.
b. Our daily schedule of personal devotion.
c. Service without communion is never enough, the one balance the other.
We do not have an outward duty to perform.
We have a service to render for Jesus who saved our soul from destruction.
We should want to please our God by showing forth to others a daily kind of living that will cause my neighbors to say “There goes a Christian”.
We must be honest in our money matters.
I must render to the Government what belong to the Government, and what belongs to God to God.
We must honor every debt incurred.
We must talk like Christian.
Matthew 6:33 KJV 1900
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Our first concern must be for the prosperity and the advance of the Church.
Our life should not be a once a week, Sunday morning side issue, it should be our daily program that directs our lives.
God waits for that daily offering of incense
Its is easy to offer strange incense upon the altar, but God will not except a substitute.
Psalm 5:3 KJV 1900
My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord; In the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.
Psalm 55:17 KJV 1900
Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: And he shall hear my voice.
Daniel 6:10 KJV 1900
Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.
Watch out for the enemy of your soul, He will allow you to fill your program so full that you will lose out on your quiet time.
We need to go back behind the curtain to the altar of incense.
All the service preform for God cannot take the plce waiting upon God.
