ANTICIPATION
Anticipation (Genesis – Malachi)
· The entire OT is the anticipation of the coming of Jesus Christ.
o The recurring theme is ‘Someone’s coming…Someone’s coming…Someone’s coming…”.
o The OT contains prophecies that only Jesus can fill and problems only He will fix.
o It speaks of people who prefigure His coming and pictures that foreshadow His work.
§ It talks about a better prophet, a better priest, a better king, a better sacrifice
§ The OT anticipates Jesus!
o The whole OT anticipates someone coming.
MANIFESTATION
Manifestation (Matthew – John)
· The One who was anticipated throughout the OT is manifested in the Gospels.
o “Someone’s coming…Someone’s coming…Someone’s coming…He’s here!”
o A reading of the Gospels quickly shows that these record the birth, life, teaching, miracles, death, burial, and resurrection of the One who was coming but is now here, Jesus Christ.
o The Gospels manifest Jesus.
PROCLAMATION
Proclamation (Acts)
· The one who was anticipated throughout the OT and manifested in the Gospels is proclaimed in the book of Acts.

EXPLANATION
Explanation (Romans – Jude)
· The One who was anticipated throughout the OT, manifested in the Gospels, and proclaimed in the book of Acts is explained in the epistles, Romans to Jude.
o These books were written to the churches and individuals, addressing pertinent needs, problems and questions.
o But, from a big picture perspective, these explain who Jesus Christ is, what He accomplished, and how His followers should live in light of those truths.

CONSUMMATION
Consummation (Revelation)
· Finally the One who was anticipated throughout the OT, manifested in the Gospels, proclaimed in the book of Acts, and explained in the epistles, is the One in whom all of God’s purposes for history will be consummated.
o To consummate means “to finish.”
o What God started in Genesis, He will finish in the book of Revelation.
(Rev.
11:15).
Revelation 11:15
15 …"The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he will reign for ever and ever."
o The Lord Jesus will return, the wicked will be judged, and the righteous will be blessed forevermore.
The book of Revelation consummates all of history in Jesus!
