Today we’re going to be starting a different series. As I was studying last week, I felt so impressed to minister onJehovah.” As I began to minister last Sunday, the Lord put upon my heart to minister on “Who Jehovah is.”

     I. As we look through the OT we see many references to “LORD GOD.” In order for us to get to know God, we have to get to know Him in the OT.

              A. (Malachi 3:6) Says, “For I am the LORD, I change not.” KJV

                        1. If we want to get to Know God, we have to look at who God is and what His character is like in the OT.

                                  a. I’m not saying that we are to live in the OT, the Church is in the NT.

                                           i. There are so many revelations in the NT never seen in the OT.

                                  b. But that doesn’t mean that we are to throw out the OT just because we have the New.

                                           i. We can still get so much out of the OT, there are nuggets and revelations in the OT that we have never seen before.

ii. To throw out the OT would be like saying “Let’s throw out the Gospels, because we have the Epistles.”

                                  c. Yes, we are living in the Epistles, but there is so much in the Gospels. It would be an injustice to do away with any part of the Word of God.

                                           i. We need the entire Word of God. How else can you preach the full counsel of God.

ii. Getting back to the OT, the OT is more than 3 X larger than the NT.

iii. There is so much that we can get out of the OT.

              B. All right, turn with me to EXO 3

                        1. In this chapter we see Moses coming to the burning bush.

                                  a. He had just spent the last 40 years in the wilderness keeping his father in laws sheep.

                                  b. When 1 day he was tending the sheep on the backside of the mountain Horeb, when all of a sudden he saw a strange sight.

                                           i. A bush was on fire, but the fire was not consuming the bush.

ii. When Moses turned to see what was going on the Lord began to speak to Moses.

                        2. EXO 3:4-8

                                  a. Basically, God was saying, Moses, I am still going to use you.

              C. When Moses was asking God, “How can I do this?” He then asked the question, “When they ask, What is your name, what should I tell them?”

                        1. EXO 3:13-14

                        2. Who is this that is talking to Moses from the burning bush?

                                  a. If we go back to these Vs that we just read we’ll see some things that reveal to us who it is that’s speaking.

                                  b. 1st of all in EXO 3:4 it says, …

                                           i. The word “Lord” in this V is the word “Jehovah.”

                                  c. V 7 (read)

                                           i. Again the word “Lord” is the word “Jehovah.”

                                  b. Who is the greatI AM?” “Jehovah

                                           i. By the way, the Words “I AMmeansThe ever existing one.”

                        1. The Jews knew exactly what Jesus was saying. Jesus was saying that he was the Great I AM.

                                  a. He was saying that He was Jehovah, the Great I AM, the Ever Existing One.

                        1. Go down to V 4a.

                                  a. Again, the word “Lord” is the word “Jehovah.”

                                  a. Go down to ZECH 12:10

                                  b. Who was it that they pierced, the Lord Jesus Christ.

              B. Turn with me to ISA 44:6 We looked at this last time. “LORD again is the word “Jehovah.”

                        1. (Revelation 22:13) Says in reference to Jesus, “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.” KJV

                        2. Look at PSA 24:7, 10

                                  a. Let’s compare that to 1COR 2:8

                        3. JER 23:6

                                  a. 1COR 1:30

                                           i. The NIV is a little clearer (1 Corinthians 1:30) “It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption.” NIV

              C. In (Proverbs 16:4) it says, “The LORD (Jehovah ) hath made all things for himself.” KJV

                        1. Look at COL 1:16
