Timing is Everything
TIMING IS EVERYTHING 1st Chronicles 12:32 and of the sons of Issachar, having understanding of the times, to know what Israel should do. Their heads were two hundred, and all their brothers were at their command. Timing can be defined as a moment in time of decision making, or it may be the ability to choose or the choice of the best moment to do or say something. Background: beginning at verse 23 of this chapter we see that King David was now positioning himself to reign over all Israel he had been king over a divided nation for seven years in Hebron, now after the death of Ishbosheth the youngest son of Saul and Abner the uncle of Saul; David was now coming into Jerusalem joined by 336,600 warriors 1222 captains to rightfully take the throne and reign in Jerusalem. Now the sons of Issachar were men of wisdom and experience and they were knowledgeable of the times. They were men who understood the natural times and seasons. They understood astrological movements and its affects and the times for plowing, sowing and harvesting. They also understood the ceremonial times and the appropriate times of sacrifices and feast days for on one occasion it states in scripture in Deuteronomy 33:19 the sons of Issachar called the children of Israel to the mountain to offer sacrifices of righteousness. They also understood the political times in which they were intent on knowing the affairs of the people; they had good intelligence from abroad and made use of it and they knew what Israel should do. In other words they had a steady finger on the pulse of the nation. The sons of Issachar were also skilled in the doctrine of the Law, they were Scribes and men of wisdom they had the ability to interpret the Law of God and what Israel should do. They understood the Natural Times, Political Times, Ceremonial Times and the Super Natural Times for they knew what Israel should do. David was now approaching Jerusalem and the tribes were now in alliance with David to sit him upon the throne, and he came with tremendous fire power to overwhelm (“shock and awe “) any holdouts who were still loyal to Saul, and weed out any leftover guerilla fighters or insurgents. There was not going to be a need for a “surge” or a long campaign to take the throne, what is significant in this chapter is verse 32 “The sons of Issachar” I’m quite sure informed David the timing is right for him to sit on the throne without any bloodshed (to be continued)
Father and my God I thank you for sending your precious son Jesus in the fullness of time to die for me, and everything you do is based upon timing and your timing is perfect. Father my desire is to know the plans you have for my life and that I would align myself and my will to your plan you have for me. I thank you Father in the name of Jesus.

David, based upon God’s timing is now about to ascend to the throne which God had already anointed him for, it was in 1st Samuel 16: 13-14 when Samuel the Prophet anointed David to be king over Israel and the word of God states from that moment “the Spirit of God came mightily upon David from that day forward.” David was anointed in the midst of his brothers and not in their presence, listen God at times will not reveal to others what he may be doing in an individual’s life until the right time. The word of God says David after he was anointed to be King was thirty years old (2nd Samuel 5:4), David was king over one tribe (Judah) seven years later he is made king over all Israel. Seventeen years later David sits in the appointed place which God anointed him for. Timing is everything, God keeps track of His children and at the right time you will ascend to the appointed place that you have been anointed for. Right now I’m speaking to you Pastor, who has no congregation, but in God’s timing it’s going to happen, that single woman who has been anointed to have a husband, I say wait on the Lord and in God’s timing it’s going to happen. God has anointed His children for an appointed place, but we must not rush God and step out of His will.It may take one year or seventeen years, when the appointed place is revealed it will be the right time. Until then be sensitive of the anointing that is upon you which prepares you for your appointment, timing is everything (to be continued)
Father, I’m reminded that You have predestined us for Your glory and our lives or in Your omnipotent hands. Yes Lord You do know the plans You have for us that will not harm us but it will bring about that which is profitable and to Your glory. Oh God help us to wait on You today and not get weary in well doing, for we will obtain that which we were anointed for, it’s in Jesus name I pray. Amen

God’s creation was based upon timing, God did not decide at that very moment to be creative because He was bored or lonely. Time has no power over our eternal God, Our Jehovah God is Omnipotent, Omniscient and Immutable and Timely, He has done everything in a timely way and all His works are based upon timing. For the child of God it is the will of God that we would be sensitive to the Spirit and to know what God’s purpose is for our lives. The word of God states that “the steps of good man is ordered of the Lord”(Psalms 37:23) this very verse means in God’s timing a man’s way has already been established and carefully orchestrated for him and the favor of God is upon his life. Having said that let us not be presumptuous and begin to believe whatever I do God’s favor will be upon it. God has mapped out a plan for our lives and we are to follow that plan and timing has a lot to do with it. We can at times step out of the will of God when we become arrogant or ignorant to what God may be doing in our lives at any given moment. When God created Adam it was based upon timing, Adam was to have dominion, but first there had to be an atmosphere and living things for him to have dominion over. Eve was created based upon timing after Adam had named everything and had to go through that process to come to the realization that there was not a helpmate suitable for him. When God created Adam it was based upon timing, Adam was to have dominion, but first there had to be an atmosphere and living things for him to have dominion over. Eve was created based upon timing, after Adam had named everything and had to go through that process to come to the realization that there was not a helpmate suitable for him. "Timing is everything". Our initial observation as we looked at the acronym T.I.M.E.S. was the word “timing” now let us look at the “I” Innovative is defined as being new or creative, when Jehovah God spoke this world into existence He created that which was without form and was void and God as Creator spoke from His soul and heart which was visional. God said let us make man in our own image and likeness, Adam was created with the visionary ability to be creative in a new world to name every living creature, Genesis 2: 19-20 and out of the ground Jehovah Elohim had formed every animal of the field and all fowl of the heavens, and brought them to Adam, to see what he would call them; and whatever Man called each living soul, that was its name. And Man gave names to all cattle and to the fowl of the heavens, and to every beast of the field; but as for Adam, he found no helpmate, that was of his kind. Now I do not want you to miss this, God presented every living creature to Adam to see what he would name them, the creative mind of Adam would appraise the creatures before him and properly name them and not having to rename them and their names have stood the test of time. Adam not only named all animals and fowl and every creeping thing, but he also named the newly formed human being from his thirteenth rib, in which God presented before him. Adam named her woman because she was made from man, what a brilliant and innovative and visionary mind of Adam. (To be continued)
Father I thank you, that You have reminded us this morning that we were made in your own image and likeness and we have the ability to be creative and visional and believe by faith that The basic truth of our being is that we trust You God our creator. Adam named her “woman” because she was made from man, what a brilliant and innovative and visionary mind of Adam. God has created within human beings creative minds that represent His crowning creation. Exodus 31: Jehovah tells Moses, I have called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah: and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship, to create skilful works, to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass. God in this particular scripture reminds us He is the one who has gifted His creation to be creative for His glory. Each one of us and especially the child of God have all the attributes of God (on a lesser level) on this terrestrial level that we may be a demonstration of that which is celestial and the world may believe that God does exist. Remember John 20: 30-31 Many other signs therefore did Jesus in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book: but these are written, that ye may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye may have life in his name. When Jesus began His ministry the Jewish leaders could not accept His innovative approach to winning souls for the Kingdom. Jesus taught a gospel that was inclusive and the Jews taught that one had to obey the sacrificial laws and be circumcised, and after you had become a proselyte you still had limited access to the temple. Mark 1:27 and they were all amazed, insomuch that they questioned among themselves, saying, what is this new teaching? Where does His authority come from He has commanded even the unclean spirits, and they obey him? As a child of God, Jesus said we will do greater works, if we will believe on Him, this lets me know I have the creative ability to perform signs and wonders if I would only believe what God says about me. As children of God we have the DNA (Divine Neo-Genetic Attributes) of our heavenly Father (to be continued)
Father, I know you have saved me from a path of destruction and the grips of hell and You have equipped me to reveal here on the earth your glory. Father I thank You for the Holy Spirit and my constant counselor in all that I do, who reminds me that You can do exceeding abundantly above all that I may ask or think, according to the power that is working in me. Father I thank You in the name of Jesus, amen.

As a child of God, Jesus said we will do greater works, if we will believe on Him, this lets me know I have the creative ability to perform signs and wonders if I would only believe what God says about me. As children of God we have the DNA (Divine Neo-Genetic Attributes) of our heavenly Father. Jesus was attacked by the existing leaders of Israel as a blasphemer and a radical for going against the established order of that day. The leaders of that day perceived Jesus as a person with new ideas and concepts that were beyond their thought and concepts which was weighed down in tradition. God gave Moses the “Ten Commandments” and from the Ten Commandments the leaders of Israel over time wrote over 600 laws or policies. Jeremiah 31:33 “But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith Jehovah: I will put my law in their inward parts, and in their heart will I write it; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people: The incarnated Jesus sent by God not to do away with the law but fulfill the law, Israel as a nation would not accept this new way of receiving God, if it was not written (in stone). They were clinging to the very document that would judge them and separate them eternally from God. Jesus said this in John 13:34-35 “A new commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another; even as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men will know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love for one another. In Leviticus God had already instructed the Israelites to love thy neighbor as thyself, they loved them based upon a premise, and they were not authentic in their love to one another. Because of what Jesus has done at Calvary the child of God has the capacity to love his neighbor because of grace which was and is a new thought and a promise that the traditionalist could not accept. God has created every human being in his likeness and image with a creative spirit to explore and have dominion in this atmosphere and to look beyond himself and realize that Jesus is the divine revelation of God. Look around you at all the technology that man has created since the days of Adam, I can truly understand why the psalmist says “ we are wonderfully and fearfully made” we are a people created to look beyond ourselves and revere and be in awe of our Creator God and praise Him. Innovative or creative (“Creativity (or "creativeness") is a cerebral progression involving the generation of new ideas or concepts or new associations of the creative mind between existing ideas or concepts (Wikipedia). We are a people created to look beyond ourselves and revere and be in awe of our Creator God and praise Him. Psalms 8:2-6 This familiar scripture “Out of the mouth of babes and suckling’s” is a metaphor to portray man in his childlike spirit whom God has ordained with strength and has provided all resources needed for man’s survival, is now staring into the celestial and has considered God’s heavens. Man in his creative intelligence has considered the intricate work of God’s fingers the moon and the stars which He has designed. The question the psalmist is asking “why am I so honored by God a mere man who is so weak and frail whose life is like a vapor, what entitles me to be notice against the backdrop of the heavens”? “Why has God done so much for my personal comfort for I am so sinful and impure, and yet my God is mindful of me, my God who is so vast and glorious who has created all the starry worlds”? “The heavens are so beautiful and grand, and yet He has considered me and I’m significant in His eyesight and has made provision by way of His son Jesus that I would be saved”. Man has been created a little lower than the angels and God has crowned man with His glory and favor and honor. God has given man dominion over all He has made by His hands and has put everything under his feet. Oh child of God we are journeying through a terrestrial kingdom but abiding in a celestial kingdom so now let us operate from a heavenly perspective and allow God to be on display in all that we do. Father God when I consider Your universe and it’s vastness and all the human beings that You have created, yet You have numbered the hairs on my head You know my days and have given me favor by saving me from eternal destruction. It is too much for me to take hold of as I understand what the apostle Paul said “I just want to take hold of that which has already taken hold of me” Father I thank You in the name of Jesus, amen.

TIMING IS EVERYTHING (measurable)
1Chronicles 12:32 and of the sons of Issachar men of wisdom, having understanding of the times and the seasons, to know what Israel should do. Their heads were two hundred, and all their brothers were at their command. Timing, Innovative, Measurable, Effectiveness, Sustainable. Man has been created a little lower than the angels and God has crowned man with His glory and favor and honor. God has given man dominion over all He has made by His hands and has put everything under his feet. Oh child of God we are journeying through a terrestrial kingdom but abiding in a celestial kingdom so now let us operate from a heavenly perspective and allow God to be on display in all that we do. Thus far we have looked at timing and innovative. Now let us consider “measurable or manageable we know that God is timely and creative and as children of God we must be sensitive to God's timing in relationship to what He wants to do in our lives. God is not only a God of timing and timely but He has created us to be innovative and creative as we show forth His glory on the earth. As a child of God Jesus has reminded us, as we go forth in ministry we need to consider the cost. “For which of you, desiring to build a tower, doth not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has the wherewithal to complete it”? Luke 14:28. So whatever we do for God we must measure or consider the cost, first of all we must be sure it is of God, because God is not going to require of us what He has not desired for us. Also another thing to consider is if God gives us a task or ministry He is going to make sure it is manageable or suitable so that we are able to handle it. The word of God states that He is not going to put any more on us that we are able to bear, but with any test or task or temptation He gives us grace and wisdom to make right choices that we will not be consumed by it. Again Jesus says “a man must first sit down and consider whether he has sufficient resources to finish a task”. He says “a wise man that has any thoughts of building a tower, or any other edifice: or if he has intention to take up a confession of faith, should sit down and well consider it”. What is paramount and what should be considered is on what foundation are we going to build upon; for if the work of grace is truly produced upon the soul of a man, he will be able to walk successfully in the ministry that he has been called. Yes even our faith walk with Christ requires us to count the cost, 2nd Corinthians 13:5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith…(To be continued)

The revelation of the Psalmist “Man has been created a little lower than the angels and God has crowned man with His glory and favor and honor. God has given man dominion over all He has made by His hands and has put everything under his feet”. Oh child of God we are journeying through a terrestrial kingdom but abiding and operating from within a celestial kingdom so now let us manage everything we do from a heavenly perspective and allow God to be on display in all that we do. James 1:17 – 18 states “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom can be no variation, neither shadow that is cast by turning. Of his own will he brought us forth by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of first fruits of his creatures. Listen, God by His own free will and Sovereign power where all truth and light abides where there is no discrepancy has saved us and graced us and sanctified us and imputed the righteousness of Him into and over us. The same eternal proclamation that created this world is the same eternal proclamation that wrought newness of life into those who were at enmity with Him. Now that we are a new creation we are not to use the world’s strategies or tactics to manage or measure that which God has given us to show forth His Glory. I like what Rev. Vincent Bryant said “we are the echo or shadow of God” Hebrews 8:5 Jesus who serve that which is a copy and shadow of the heavenly things, even as Moses is warned of God when he is about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern that was showed thee in the mount. If we are going to operate from a heavenly perspective then we have to totally embrace “that we are now reigning in heavenly places” Heaven is our model, the scriptures has revealed to us whatever we do in the earthly realm has already been done in the heavenly realm. Father I praise your name this morning as I go about my mission to be the echo or pattern of You. Father I just want to take time out just to thank You for my marriage as Arlene and I echo a heavenly pattern for marriage. My desire as a Husband is to be the High Priest in my household that I would sacrifice my wants to meet her needs, and to love her unconditionally as You have loved me. If we are going to operate from a heavenly perspective then we have to totally embrace “that we are now reigning in heavenly places” Heaven is our model, the scriptures has revealed to us whatever we do in the earthly realm has already been done in the heavenly realm. Now let us Look again at our acronym T.I.M.E.S. as children of God we must first be sensitive to the timing of God secondly be open to creative ways that God may be working in this generation, thirdly we must be able to manage or count the cost what God has trusted us with. Fourthly as we move forward we must appraise what we are doing in our personal lives and in ministry and ask the question “is it effective”? The definition of effective or effectiveness is this “the cause or success or the producing of a result that may be efficacious, especially the desired or anticipated outcome”. Jesus stated in Luke 10 giving instructions to His disciples as they went forth doing ministry, “when you enter into a city and you go house to house and they receive you be thankful and accept whatever is put before you”, spiritually speaking if a person’s heart is open to the gospel meet them where they are do not reject people because of a lack of knowledge. If someone is open to hearing the word of God you are being effective and if you are sensitive to the Spirit that person has a greater possibility of receiving the word with gladness. But Jesus also said this “if they receive you not go into the streets and shake the dust from your feet”, even Jesus himself could not do miracles where there was a lack of faith. In ministry we must evaluate what we are doing and ask the question is it effective? Or are we just operating from a traditional or a church program that has lost its sense of direction. In our own individual lives we expect different results doing the same old thing; someone has defined this as insanity. \\Father and my God, I have considered my situation as a husband, father, and as a pastor I have ask myself the question “am I being effective, and am I making a difference for the sake of Christ”. In our own individual lives we expect different results doing the same old thing; someone has defined this as insanity. When we take inventory of our existing situation and if we are honest with ourselves and ask the hard questions “am I effective, am I making a difference for the sake of Christ, am I being productive in my home, workplace, my church, am I growing in my spiritual walk with Jesus?. The definition of effective or effectiveness is this “the cause or success or the producing of a result that may be efficacious, especially the desired or anticipated outcome”. Again let us ask ourselves the hard questions how effective am I in my walk with Jesus or how effective am I in the ministry that I believe God has given me? Hebrews 9: 12 -16 sums it up this way: Jesus having bypassed the sacrifices consisting of goat and calf blood, instead using his own blood as the price to set us free once and for all. Look if the animal blood and the other rituals of purification were effective in cleaning up certain matters of our religion and behavior, we would still be going to the temple at Jerusalem offering up sacrifices.
But the blood of Christ is much more effective it cleans up our whole lives, inside and out, through the Spirit. Christ offered himself once and for all as an unblemished sacrifice, freeing us from all those dead-end efforts to make ourselves respectable, so that we can live all out for God. Like a will that takes effect when someone dies, the new covenant was put into action at Jesus' death. His death marked the transition from the old plan to the new one, canceling the old obligations and accompanying sins, and summoning the heirs to receive the eternal inheritance that was promised them. He brought together God and his people in this new way and this new way is eternally effective.(msg) Sometimes it is difficult to drop some out-dated methods and thinking, and it is only because it may be familiar, and because of a lack of faith we will not risk anything new or innovative that may bring about different results. As a father as I raise my children and I evaluate their behavior and growth, have I been effective in causing them to reach their full potential? As a husband have I been effective when it comes to loving my wife as Christ has loved His bride the Church? As a pastor have I been effective in teaching my people the ways of God that they are able to make the most of their gifts and walk in newness of life that is God glorifying? So ask yourself the question what is it that I need to change today that I may fully understand what God wants to do in my life, and be determined in my spirit from this day forward I will begin to be more effective and productive in my life and in the kingdom of God. We have learned that effectiveness is “the cause or success or the producing of a result that may be efficacious, especially the desired or anticipated outcome”. So ask yourself again this question what is it that I need to change today that I may fully understand what God wants to do in my life, and be determined in my spirit from this day forward I will begin to be more effective and productive in my life and in the kingdom of God. Now that I’m moving forward to be more effective in the kingdom of God and in my own personal life, now how do I make those right choices that are sustainable. The definition of sustainable as an adjective is this: that which is able to be maintained. Sustaining as a verb is this: that which receives ongoing support or a nourishing substance that stimulates health and well being. Now if we understand the definition, and if we understand that God is our Creator and our Sustainer without Him we could not survive and if we understand the scripture Act 17:28a for in Him we live, and move, and have our being; Oh saint of God this particular verse teaches that God not only created us in His likeness and image, but He is our very source of our existence, for without Him we are nothing, for we move in Him, Live in Him, and we are in Him, and if God were to withdraw His Sustaining Spirit from us we would utterly perish. This verse lets me know that before I was even formed in the womb, God had a plan for my life and to save me from myself, and now that I’m a spiritual offspring, He is the one who continually nourishes me spiritually that I may grow healthy and that I’m able to be strong in the power of His might. I believe God is teaching us as we move forward in ministry we must move in God’s timing, we must be creative in how we do ministry, we must measure (to see if it is really of God) and count the cost before we move forward, and ask ourselves is it effective, and remember if God is with us it will be sustainable. \\Father I thank You today, that You have not left us to our ourselves and to our own devices. Father I do know in and of ourselves we would make a mess of our lives and others in the process. I believe God is teaching us as we move forward in ministry we must move in God’s timing, we must be creative in how we do ministry, we must measure (to see if it is really of God) and count the cost before we move forward, and ask ourselves is it effective, and remember if God is with us it will be sustainable. I know for all of us as we journey through this earth on our way to a glorious kingdom that awaits us, we must admit situations may arise and at times we may be at a loss in how to respond. When those times come, I’m reminded that God has not left us alone He knows and sees what we are going through. It was Elijah in 1st kings in chapter 17 when the brook dried up it says the word of the LORD came to Elijah and told him to arise and go to Zarephath, which belonged to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee. 1Ki 17:10 So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering of sticks: and he called to her, and said, fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel that I may drink. What has dried up in your life? is it a job, marriage, death of a loved one, finances, your health or maybe you are just depressed and really cannot even put your finger on the real problem. God is saying to you and me that He is concerned about our personal lives and ministry, that He has called us to. God works through situations and people to come along side of us to sustain us at times when we fill that we are at our wits end and ready to give in, and He says “listen move from here where you are” it may be a physical move or a spiritual move. Elijah heard the voice of God and traveled 100 miles to meet a woman who was outside of the city gathering sticks to prepare her last meal for herself and her son and then die. Wait a minute! God, how is this woman going to have the wherewithal to sustain me? She is worse off then I am, the truth is God can sustain us through the most difficult times in our lives and if we would take time out and step back and listen to His voice, and when God blesses you or is sustaining you it may come from an unlikely source. \\Father my prayer this morning is that I would not miss the opportunity to receive a blessing from you even though it may flow from that which I’m not accustomed with. Because I’m reminded that you are the God of timing and creativity and you’re sustaining and efficacious blessing are always accessible to the child of God. Father I have a special request of you this morning concerning Thomas Rogers and his precious wife Jackie. Father please be with the Dr’s this morning as Jackie Rogers in Atlanta goes through a surgical procedure, and we pray that her prognosis would be favorable in the name of Jesus, amen.

God may speaking to you right now it may be a physical move or a spiritual move, and as you contemplate that move you are questioning within yourself can God sustain me if I make this move? It was 1989 my wife and I were visiting my sister-in-law (Tiny) in Columbia MD, during the Labor Day weekend. Arlene (Wife) and I had talked about moving to Maryland from Delaware and we believed God was directing us at the time. Now our brook had not dried up in Delaware, it was just the opposite we were doing well in our restaurant business which was located in a professional building. I had left the post office to work full time in our business and we were living in a home that overlooked a running stream, you see materially we were doing well. Spiritually our brook had dried up and we were questioning God concerning our place in ministry. We knew Maryland was the place we needed to be to receive a fresh breath of the Spirit. So on that weekend Arlene says to me “David we have said God is telling us to move and we continue to question God can He sustain us if we make this move”? “Listen the kids and I are going to stay here with my sister and I will enroll the kids in school, now you go back home and work the business until you find someone to manage the business. Elijah obeyed the word of God and traveled a great distance to receive that which God had for him in a specific locale. Elijah obeyed the word of God and traveled a great distance to receive that which God had for him in a specific locale. As Elijah traveled to Zarephath (in the Hebrew a place of refinement) I wondered what may have been going through his mind, he had listen to the voice of God that started him on this journey by confronting the King (Ahab) that God was judging the land by withholding rain for three and a half years. Now God tells him go hide yourself at the brook Cherith (Separation or cutting) Listen precious saint, God calls us to Himself for a particular task in the kingdom and then He separates us from worldly influences. Oh I know it is difficult to have to walk away from relationships and sometimes from a livelihood in which you were on your way up the corporate ladder. Have you ever felt alone and it seems there is no one to understand what you were going through, there was just no one that was able to feel your pain and your isolation there was just no one able to sustain you. Oh precious saint if we are obedient and separate ourselves and draw neigh unto God He can sustain us, He can put new relationships in your life that are sustainable, income that is sustainable, spiritual sustenance that is sustainable. You see if Elijah was going to receive the sustaining blessings of God during the drought season, he had to go to the place of separation to receive it. Elijah is comfortable at the brook; He is drinking fresh water and enjoying the bread and meat that the ravens are bringing to him daily in the morning and in the evening. Now after a period of time God dries up the brook and tells him “go to Zarephath which is the place of refinement or altercation, oh child of God, we have been called out of the world and Like little babes are Heavenly Father feeds us, but after a season He then begins to refine us and reshape us for ministry. Let me say this there may be for most of us many times or occasions that God may ask us to go down to the Potters house and like clay in His hands we are made over and over again (To be continued)
My God and my Father I have learned these last 32 years of grace living and being separated from family members, and worldly friends and career situations that You not only filled me but sustained me that I was able to see clearly Your hand at work in my life. Oh God I’m overwhelmed that You have cared so much for me, I have more than I deserve, a wife who loves me unconditionally and who is suitable for me. Children and their spouses and grandchildren who are so precious to me, when I walked into my “Cherith” 32 years ago I could not have dreamed or imagined the sustaining blessings that You had arranged for me, Oh God I thank You in Jesus name amen .Pastor David H. God are you sure this is the church you told me where I need to be at? God are you sure this is the job, are you sure this is the wife for me, the husband, the ministry, the house, God this does not look good. I should have…..how many times you have questioned the wisdom and plan of God for your life. When we begin to question God’s wisdom, we rely on our own strength and wisdom, which goes against the plan and will of God and the results usually, leads to failure and discouragement. Elijah knew this was the woman who was going to sustain him and begin to test her faith; she acknowledged that Elijah’s God was Jehovah and Elijah told her to collect your sticks to build a fire for your meal as you said you were going to do, but first feed me and Jehovah God will cause your meal and oil not to run out. Saints of God I have learned if I’m to be sustained by God, I must first trust Him with all that I have and all that I am. The church must first believe God’s word that He is the author and finisher of our faith and He alone is the one that will sustain us and equip us to do ministry. Sometimes He leads us into situations when we have to rely totally on His word regardless what the situation looks like, this woman had to take a risk and trust the Prophet that he heard from God concerning her meal and oil. The word of God says that she fed the Prophet first and all during the famine her meal and oil did not run out, the widow woman and her son had more than they needed and also fed Elijah. “Go to Zarephath and a widow woman will sustain you” Elijah received a blessing from an unlikely source. The question I put to you today, what is holding you back from the blessing God has in store for you? Is it a lack of faith, fear of failure, fear of the unknown, or what is it in your life that you have to sacrifice that God may ultimately bless you? Timing, Innovative, Measurable, Effectiveness, Sustainable. “Go to Zarephath and a widow woman will sustain you” Elijah received a blessing from an unlikely source. We left off asking the question, what is holding you back from the blessings God has in store for you? Is it a lack of faith, fear of failure, fear of the unknown, or what is it in your life that you have to sacrifice that God may ultimately bless you? The widow woman took a huge step of faith, you see if she didn’t hear from God and if Elijah was not a true prophet sent by God and gave this man her last meal, it was not that her finances would be at risk or lost of a home, lost of transportation, lost of a job or lost of relationships; we are talking about lost of life and not only hers but also her sons life. God has so much for the children of God, but the problem is that we are fearful and will not step out when we get a word from the Lord, just about all of us have been indoctrinated by negative voices and environments that we have grown up in that has snatched our innovative thinking that the Lord God Jehovah has blessed us with. This woman yielded to Elijah who was an earthly representative of Jehovah God in her life. Let me ask you a question; what happen to that dream you had? why did you not follow through with it, is it that you believed God would not sustain you during the famine (testing) season or did you take the last spark of that dream and allowed outside and inside negativity to cause it not to be operational in your life. As an illustration allow me to tell you what has happen too many of us: as you get in your car today and start your car, begin to think of the spark plugs in your engine. The sparkplug which you cannot see has one purpose and it is to create combustion in the cylinders and ignite the fuel that causes your car to start and run efficiently and all of this is based upon timing. It has been said “sparkplugs don’t burn out they just foul out” you see when your car begins to have problems it is because the spark plugs have been fouled and that happens because of ash deposit are oil. I asked you this question what has fouled your faith?....... (To be continued)
\\Father, I am thinking about young children at this time who are so creative and willing to take risk in their formative years and beyond. Father I also know outside influences may cause some of these same children to give into negative thinking and become less than what You have planned for them. Father I pray for the parents and grandparents and teachers and anyone who may have an influence on their lives, Father your word says we are to train our children in the way that You have designed for them and when they are of age they will not depart from it. Father I thank You in the name of Jesus, Amen.
