Jesus Commanded Evangelism
matthew
Evangelism was never an option
matthew
Jesus expected His disciples to passionately seek to share the Gospel with the lost.
Evangelism should be a passion of ours
The Urgency of Evangelism
“If you had the cure to cancer wouldn’t you share it?
… You have the cure to death … get out there and share it.”
- Kirk Cameron
Ezekiel 33:
ezekiel 33:
We are called by God to be the world’s watchmen
We do not know who will be saved and who will not be saved, therefore, we must proclaim the Gospel to everyone as if their eternity depended upon the knowledge of God that we possess.
“If sinners be damned, at least let them leap to Hell over our dead bodies.
And if they perish, let them perish with our arms wrapped about their knees, imploring them to stay.
If Hell must be filled, let it be filled in the teeth of our exertions, and let not one go unwarned and unprayed for.”
- Charles Spurgeon
matthew 2
matthew 28:16-
Evangelism is Naturally Uncomfortable
Why do you think Evangelism is uncomfortable?
Evangelism is uncomfortable because it is a subject of eternal seriousness.
When we evangelize to people that are not Christians, we are telling them:
Any understanding of God that they have that does not line up with ours is wrong
The way they are living their life is incorrect
They are going to hell if they do not accept what we are telling them
Therefore, people are naturally repulsed by what we have to say concerning Jesus Christ
Be prepared for the reality that the vast majority of people you evangelize will reject what you have to say.
If you evangelize to 100 people, be prepared for 99 of them to refuse to listen
Sharing the Gospel will not make you popular.
“If he have faith, the believer cannot be restrained.
He betrays himself.
He breaks out.
He confesses and teaches this gospel to the people at the risk of life itself.”
- Martin Luther
That is the point of these six weeks of evangelism strategy - to show you how to be effective

You can’t mess evangelism up
God Saves People, You Do Not
Many times we neglect to evangelize and tell people about Jesus because we are afraid of messing up an eternally serious subject
We are afraid that we could somehow mess up and someone could go to hell for our mistake
While it is necessary to take evangelism seriously, the Christian does not have to worry about saying the wrong thing and sending someone to hell.
God is in the business of saving people and he is more powerful than your mess up.
john 6:35-
john 6:44-
So, if God does the saving, why do I need to do anything?
There is an External and Internal Call of the Gospel
The External Call is when we share and communicate the Gospel to someone.
The Internal Call is when God effectively uses the Gospel to open the heart of the nonbeliever, moving that person from unbelief to belief.
Conclusion:
You have to decide how important evangelism is to you
If you are not regularly intentional about evangelism, you will not evangelize
But God has transformed us to love telling others about him
“Have you no wish for others to be saved?
Then you're not saved yourself, be sure of that!” - Charles Spurgeon
