Can you think of one person that does not know Jesus as their Savior?
What is Evangelism?
EVANGELISM Active calling of people to respond to the message of grace and commit oneself to God in Jesus Christ.

Jesus Commanded Evangelism

Schweer, G. W. (2003). Evangelism. In C. Brand, C. Draper, A. England, S. Bond, E. R. Clendenen, & T. C. Butler (Eds.), Holman Illustrated Bible Dictionary (p. 518). Nashville, TN: Holman Bible Publishers.Jesus Commanded Evangelism
Evangelism is the Spirit-led communication of the gospel of the kingdom in such a way or ways that the recipients have a valid opportunity to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and become responsible members of His church.
Matthew 28:16–20 ESV
16 Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. 17 And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted. 18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Evangelicalism — A movement in Christianity emphasizing personal faith and individual conversion and affirming traditional theological positions such as salvation through faith in Christ alone and the authority of Scripture.

Evangelism was never an option
matthew
Jesus expected His disciples to passionately seek to share the Gospel with the lost.
Evangelism should be a passion of ours

The Urgency of Evangelism

“If you had the cure to cancer wouldn’t you share it? … You have the cure to death … get out there and share it.” - Kirk Cameron
Ezekiel 33:7–9 ESV
7 “So you, son of man, I have made a watchman for the house of Israel. Whenever you hear a word from my mouth, you shall give them warning from me. 8 If I say to the wicked, O wicked one, you shall surely die, and you do not speak to warn the wicked to turn from his way, that wicked person shall die in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at your hand. 9 But if you warn the wicked to turn from his way, and he does not turn from his way, that person shall die in his iniquity, but you will have delivered your soul.

We are called by God to be the world’s watchmen
We do not know who will be saved and who will not be saved, therefore, we must proclaim the Gospel to everyone as if their eternity depended upon the knowledge of God that we possess.
“If sinners be damned, at least let them leap to Hell over our dead bodies. And if they perish, let them perish with our arms wrapped about their knees, imploring them to stay. If Hell must be filled, let it be filled in the teeth of our exertions, and let not one go unwarned and unprayed for.” - Charles Spurgeon

Evangelism is Naturally Uncomfortable

Why do you think Evangelism is uncomfortable?
Evangelism is uncomfortable because it is a subject of eternal seriousness.
When we evangelize to people that are not Christians, we are telling them:
Any understanding of God that they have that does not line up with ours is wrong
The way they are living their life is incorrect
They are going to hell if they do not accept what we are telling them
Therefore, people are naturally repulsed by what we have to say concerning Jesus Christ
Be prepared for the reality that the vast majority of people you evangelize will reject what you have to say.
If you evangelize to 100 people, be prepared for 99 of them to refuse to listen
Sharing the Gospel will not make you popular.
“If he have faith, the believer cannot be restrained. He betrays himself. He breaks out. He confesses and teaches this gospel to the people at the risk of life itself.” - Martin Luther

You can’t mess evangelism up

God Saves People, You Do Not

Many times we neglect to evangelize and tell people about Jesus because we are afraid of messing up an eternally serious subject
We are afraid that we could somehow mess up and someone could go to hell for our mistake
While it is necessary to take evangelism seriously, the Christian does not have to worry about saying the wrong thing and sending someone to hell.
God is in the business of saving people and he is more powerful than your mess up.
John 6:35–40 ESV
35 Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst. 36 But I said to you that you have seen me and yet do not believe. 37 All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out. 38 For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me. 39 And this is the will of him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of all that he has given me, but raise it up on the last day. 40 For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.”
john 6:35-
john 6:44-
John 6:44–47 ESV
44 No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day. 45 It is written in the Prophets, ‘And they will all be taught by God.’ Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to me— 46 not that anyone has seen the Father except he who is from God; he has seen the Father. 47 Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes has eternal life.
So, if God does the saving, why do I need to do anything?
There is an External and Internal Call of the Gospel
The External Call is when we share and communicate the Gospel to someone.
The Internal Call is when God effectively uses the Gospel to open the heart of the nonbeliever, moving that person from unbelief to belief.
Conclusion:
You have to decide how important evangelism is to you
If you are not regularly intentional about evangelism, you will not evangelize
But God has transformed us to love telling others about him
“Have you no wish for others to be saved? Then you're not saved yourself, be sure of that!” - Charles Spurgeon
We are called by God to share His Gospel
