Promises of Prosperity:

Psalms 122:6

6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: "May those who love you be secure.

Psalms 1:3

3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season  and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.

Deuteronomy 29:9

9 Carefully follow the terms of this covenant, so that you may prosper in everything you do.

[What is the best way to prosper in life? For the Israelites, their first step was to keep their part of the covenant. They were to love God with all their hearts, soul, and strength.]

Deuteronomy 6:4-5

      4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one.

5        Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.

We too must seek God first, then success in life will follow as a blessing from the hand of God

Matthew 6:33

33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. NIV

So, you see just from these passages of scriptures in both the O.T and the N.T. that we cannot just set around and do nothing and expect God to hand all things to us. When we truly do that which God has asked blessings will flow.

If public transportation is our way of getting from point A to point B, we cannot just stay put and expect to get on the bus- even when we may live on the bus route.

  1. We must get and get outside.
  2. We then must go to the bus stop.
  3. In order to ride we must get on bus.
  4. In the process of staying on the bus we must pay the fare.

Here are some of the reasons that many of mankind does not Prosper;

  1. We are rebellious against God

Deuteronomy 28:29

29 At midday you will grope about like a blind man in the dark. You will be unsuccessful in everything you do; day after day you will be oppressed and robbed, with no one to rescue you.

NIV

Look if you will at Dt 28:15 and the following vv.

  1. We cover sins

Proverbs 28:13

13 He who conceals his sins does not prosper,

but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy.

NIV

#. Many of us Fight God

Isaiah 54:17

17 no weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and this is their vindication from me," declares the LORD.

NIV

#. Five Promises God made to Israel

Exodus 29:42-46

42 "For the generations to come this burnt offering is to be made regularly at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting before the LORD. There I will meet you and speak to you;

43 there also I will meet with the Israelites, and the place will be consecrated by my glory.

44 "So I will consecrate the Tent of Meeting and the altar and will consecrate Aaron and his sons to serve me as priests.

45 Then I will dwell among the Israelites and be their God.

46 They will know that I am the LORD their God, who brought them out of Egypt so that I might dwell among them. I am the LORD their God.

NIV

When we are to have faith in someone (so to speak) they must have integrity.

Look if you will at this;

#. God’s assurance of His integrity

Numbers 23:19

19 God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?

NIV

  1. He would not lie
  2. He would not change His mind. (That is he will not make a promise and then change or go back on his word. Also he would withhold a blessing from you if you had been rebellious in the past)
  3. He would do what He said.
  4. He would make good on what He said.
