Purge me with hyssop - Hyssop branches were used by the Israelites during the time of passover.
They would use the hyssop to apply the blood on their doorpost so that the death angel would pass over there home.
Allow me to suggest that David must have had this image in his mind and is basically saying.
God I need to be covered.

This is a heart issue.
May we consider that developed this spiritual heart condition over time.

In both these circumstances he comes out victorious but David’s issue is what happens when your prosperity turns to pride.
