The Room, The Meal, and The Table
Exodus 13:8-10
Mark 14:12-
The Room
The Passover meal and The Feast of Unleavened Bread was a sacred moment for all Jews because it reminded them of how the Lord lead them out of slavery in Egypt and gave them their own land.
Here the disciples were asking Jesus where they should prepare the meal, Jerusalem was crowded because faithful Jews traveled there for the feast and space was limited.
It appears Jesus had made previous arrangements because he told them who to look ask about a room “a man carrying a jar of water” Most often men would carry leather pouches with water in them, name the big jars, which was carried mostly by women.
This was a dangerous time for Jesus because he knew there were those planning to kill him and he would have been careful to avoid capture till the proper time.
The room is significant because they had to celebrate the meal in a home together ()

The purpose of this meal was to remind them of the time their firstborn were spared when God strikes all the first born in Egypt in order to show Pharoah’s he was the one true God and release his people.
Careful preparation of the meat illustrates the sacredness of the body of Christ offered up on the cross for them as a substitutionary atonement in the future.

Conclusion
As we enter this time of year when we celebrate the risen savior we need to be reminded just like the Jewish people did of God’s mighty hand.
Jesus has delivered us out of the bondage of sin
We need to remind our children why we worship Jesus.
Why do we go the church on Sunday?
Why do we have Missional Community?
Why do we pray?
Why do we study?
Why do we serve others?
Why do we believe?
Jesus entered a room and sat at the table with a person who he knew would betray him and with others who would flee at the time of his arrest.
He became the passover Lamb for us, people who are sometimes apathetic towards God, people who honor him with their lips and not their hearts.
That should give us all comfort because that means we all have a place at the table with Jesus if we repent and believe.
The bibles says IN “AND IT SHALL COME TO PASS THAT EVERYONE WHO CALLS ON THE NAME OF THE LORD SHALL BE SAVED.”
