Isa 61:3

3 ….that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.

Luke 2:40 + 42 +47-52

40 And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him.

42 And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem after the custom of the feast.

12 years

47 And all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers.

48 And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing.

49 And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business?

50 And they understood not the saying which he spake unto them.

51 And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject unto them: but his mother kept all these sayings in her heart.

52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.

Luke 3:23

23 And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age,….

18 years = 30 years of preparation for three years of ministry!

·      What did Jesus do all that time? Heb 5:8 Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;

·      He learned obedience! He learned to talk, to walk, to work, to obey, to be faithful, to follow God etc..

·       In the beginning God planted a Garden. He did not build a factory! He is still in the fruit buisness!

John 15:2 + 4-5, 8, 16

2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.

5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

8 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.

16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

Matt 3:7-11

7 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

8 Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance:

9 And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.

10 And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:

Matt 7:16-21

16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?

17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.

18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

·      You can only give what you have, You will only produce what you are, not what you know! Many of us try to change ourselves by changing what we know!

Matt 12:33-35

33 Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit.

34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.

35 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.(KJV)

·      Real christianity is Fruit Production! Not words! Fruit is Reality, Words are relligion!

·      What do we mean by fruit? Character!  The fruit is the character of the tree! This is what the tree produces! This is what you are! Character: This is what you do when no one else is around, what you produce without trying.

·      I see a picture of the body of Christ like comparing two trees. One is a fruit tree and the other is a Christmas tree! One is cut off and we hang things on it to decorate it, to make it look like it is a live. We then surround it with gifts. The other is alive and producing fruit!

·      We are the christmas tree! Instead of developing the Character/Fruit we have settled for the synthetic fruit, the fruit of others, the decorations, the christmas spirit, the gifts. And just like the modern day christmas, it is all based on selfishness!!!

Gal 5:16-25

16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,

21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith(fulness),

23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. (KJV)

1 Cor 13:4-8a

4 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up;

5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil;

6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth;

7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

8 Love never fails….

·      This is a statement about love NOT how love should act but, how love acts! I thought love was a choice? It is a choice to yield to it, not a choice to produce it!

·      So is the fruit of the spirit! You do not go to a fruit tree each year and remind it to produce fruit, do you?(Gen.1:11)

·      Wait a minute, that is not my experience! Because we do not walk in the spirit!

·      Doing these without the Spirit is the Law! Doing these because of the Spirit is Liberty!

·     My job as pastor is not to number one, develop gifts in you, but fruit! To teach you to walk in the spirit and to develop the fruit of the spirit..ie  pruning with the Word, chances to practice, doing the works of Jesus! We need to go for the Fruit first. The lack of fruit is hindering the use of our gifts and the will of God in our lives. God will not pour out his power till we can control ourselves!

Luke 16:10-12

10 He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.

11 If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?

12 And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man's, who shall give you that which is your own?

Gal 5:22-23

But when the Holy Spirit controls our lives he will produce this kind of fruit in us: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control;…(TLB)

·      We like the first three types of Fruit, but the last six have not been talked about or developed hardly at all!

1.    Hook up to the Vine (Get Born again)

2.    Abide in him and his words in you(Obey his words, that’s walking in the spirit)

John 15:4-5

4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.

5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

John 14:15 + 24

15 "If you love me, you will obey what I command.(NIV)

24 He who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me. (NIV)

Gal 6:7-9

7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
