To Mourn is to be Happy
convicted over sin ....
last week
The first beatitude was to be Poor in Spirit - means beg and understand that we bring nothing to the table for righteousness it all Grace and love from God.
To mourn means to have knowledge of sin in their lives.
It bothers them .....
Illustration - a man has a drinking problem ---- it bothers him but drinking goes on .....
His wife hates it
His children hates it
But hates it but not to the pint he is willing to cast everything he has or owns to change his drinking behavior.
Until he morns and weep and this is changed by action the drinking goes on .
But when he morns he throws himself at the mercy of change and does whatever it takes to stop hurting his family....
A ladder, if it to be of any use, must have its first step near the ground… This Gospel blessing reaches down to the very spot where the law leaves us.[1]

The law will bring you to a place called “poor in spirit” and Jesus will meet you there: “Blessed are the poor in Spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
Today we move on to the second Beatitude: “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted” ().
There are three kinds of mourning—natural, sinful, and spiritual.
Natural mourning is grieving for someone you have lost -loved one a relationship ....
Sinful mourning - This sinful mourning is pining for what God has not given.
You have an example of this in Ahab, the king of Israel.
God gave him a palace and a kingdom, but next to the palace, there was a poor man called Naboth who had a vineyard.
Ahab set his eyes on Naboth’s vineyard.
The Bible says Ahab became “vexed and sullen.”
We might say today that he’s “pouting.”
Why?
Because he could not get his hands on the vineyard

He said to Samuel, “I have sinned, for I have transgressed the commandment of the Lord” ().
I’m sure he had a very long face when he said it.
Then he says something else to Samuel, “I have sinned, yet honor me now before the elders of my people” ().
I’m sure he had a very long face when he said it.
Then he says something else to Samuel, “I have sinned, yet honor me now before the elders of my people” ().
He appears sorry, but the truth is that he would have continued what he was doing, if he could.
He says he is sorry but his focus is on damage limitation.
There has not been a change of heart.
Spiritual mourning is the key to tackling what we call “habitual sins,” sins that keep recurring in a person’s life.
A true Christian does not live in a cycle of sinning, saying sorry to God and then repeating the same behavior, year after year after year…

(CNN)Frank McAlister's death nearly 25 years ago had long stumped detectives.
The 19-year-old's skeletal remains were found in rural Northern California months after the car he'd been driving was found mysteriously abandoned in a Costco parking lot in Redding.
No arrests were made in the two decades since.
Then someone walked into a television news station Tuesday and confessed.

... It was murder," Hawkins, of Shingletown, told KRCR reporter Courtney Kreide
Hawkins told the TV station that his faith in God and overwhelming feelings of guilt led him to confess.
"God, Christ -- these things that have happened throughout my whole life since then, for over 25 years, have pushed me and pushed me to do the right thing," Hawkins said.
"I know the wrong can't be changed, but this is the closest I can come to doing the right thing."
