Christ wants a church that is transformed by His glory and bears witness to the world.
We were made to worship and wonder. Jesus prayed, “Father, I desire that they also whom You gave Me may be with Me where I am, that they may behold My glory which you have given me.” John 17:24

Behold His Glory (12-16)

John was in the Spirit on the Lord’s Day (Sunday) while under exile.
The Isle of Patmos was in the Aegean Sea, a prison colony for prisoners against Rome.
The Description of Jesus:
The Son of Man - the eternal one to whom has been given dominion.
Daniel 7:13–14 ESV
“I saw in the night visions, and behold, with the clouds of heaven there came one like a son of man, and he came to the Ancient of Days and was presented before him. And to him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve him; his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom one that shall not be destroyed.
He is King and Priest v 12-13.
He is in the midst of the churches and clothed in garments of royalty and priesthood.
A Royal Priesthood that surpasses that of all others. He has both the right to rule and the power to reconcile.
Hebrews 10:12–13 ESV
But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, waiting from that time until his enemies should be made a footstool for his feet.
His Purity v. 14 (head and hair white like wool, white as snow)
Hebrews 10:12–14 ESV
But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, waiting from that time until his enemies should be made a footstool for his feet. For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified.
Heb 10:12-
His Purity v. 14 (head and hair white like wool, white as snow)
He does not need to make intercession for himself.
Hebrews 7:26–28 ESV
For it was indeed fitting that we should have such a high priest, holy, innocent, unstained, separated from sinners, and exalted above the heavens. He has no need, like those high priests, to offer sacrifices daily, first for his own sins and then for those of the people, since he did this once for all when he offered up himself. For the law appoints men in their weakness as high priests, but the word of the oath, which came later than the law, appoints a Son who has been made perfect forever.
Hebrews 7:26–27 ESV
For it was indeed fitting that we should have such a high priest, holy, innocent, unstained, separated from sinners, and exalted above the heavens. He has no need, like those high priests, to offer sacrifices daily, first for his own sins and then for those of the people, since he did this once for all when he offered up himself.
His Perception v. 14b (eyes like a flame of fire)
His Perception v. 14b (eyes like a flame of fire)
He sees and knows all things. Nothing escapes his notice.
Hebrews 4:13 ESV
And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account.
His Power v. 15a (feet as fine brass; voice as many waters)
He has been given authority over all the kingdoms of this world. All those who oppose him will be crushed beneath his feet. He has crushed the head of the serpent!
His Proclamation v. 15b-16 (voice as many waters; stars in right hand; two-edged sword)
His Word carries All Authority. His Word spoke the world into existence and caused light to burst forth. His Word is certain.
Pastors are subject unto His command and dare speak only His Word.
His Word cuts to the heart and discerns even the thoughts.
Hebrews 4:12 ESV
For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
His Preeminence - 16b-18
His countenance is described as the brightest object in our sky. He dwarf all else and stands only supreme. He is not one ruler or god among many, but is the One and Only!
He is first and last. He LIVES; WAS dead; and IS ALIVE FOREVERMORE.
He has the keys of death and hell.

Be Transformed (17-18)

John’s reaction is what all of us would do, and will do. He falls down before him in fear.
The greatness of Christ’s glory. Though he is all powerful, he is gracious.
“He laid His right hand upon me saying, ‘Fear not!’”
When you and I behold the glory of Christ we see our own sin and unworthiness. It is then that Christ’s grace transforms us. Rather than crushing us, he touches us in gentleness and tell us not to fear!!!
We are transformed as we worship him who loved us and behold his glory; his purity, power, preeminence, and grace.
1 John 3:2 ESV
Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is.

Be a Witness (19)

Jesus told John to write the things which we saw.
Acts 4:19–20 ESV
But Peter and John answered them, “Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you rather than to God, you must judge, for we cannot but speak of what we have seen and heard.”
Acts 4:20 ESV
for we cannot but speak of what we have seen and heard.”
