Introduction

People now a days are so conscious about how they look physically just for beauty sake, others because they want to to be in their best form, generally everybody wants to be in a tip top shape, right?
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s data says:
Percent of adults aged 18 and over who met the Physical Activity Guidelines for aerobic physical activity: 51.7%
Percent of adults aged 18 and over who met the Physical Activity Guidelines for both aerobic and muscle-strengthening activity: 21.7%
And you can see and read more data about the risk factors one person can have if not into the habit of getting physically fit.
We all know that getting into the right shape physically takes sheer determination, it’s not just willed by your mind alone but by your whole being...

It’s kinda like easy to understand when some one says...
“God has given you a gift, use it!!” But it’s not just that simple.
This morning…I would like to just point out 2 things..
Why do we have spiritual gifts....
What are those spiritual gifts??

We receive spiritual gifts and are ...

Equipped to carry out tasks or responsibilities of a spiritual nature.

Moses

When you receive a gift from someone, normally that person is thinking … “It’s Pastor Jon’s Birthday, (he is at a store..) I think he really needs this.....DEODORANT!!!
God knows who we are individually and He knows what kind of gift suits us or is best for us!!!! Amen
Encouragement: Ain’t that really something, that God, in spite of the millions of Christians all over the world, knows what kind of gift is best for you and me?!!!! right????

13 You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb.

He knows you…Me …all of us!!
And he specifically choose us…
for a bigger task, higher than anything or any body!!!
It is a privilege.... (encourage up the congregation)
And that privilege also comes with a gift, and like any earthly gifts, we are to use that gift!!!

Isaiah was declaring this during his time and was literally prophesying it about Jesus, that’s why when you go to , Jesus quoted the same words Isaiah said.

Do you know what this means? The word of God only wants to show that even though the fact shows that Moses was indeed capable, it is only God who really enables him, for us, this means we can’t really depend on our own strength, on what we know.

GIDEON

Gideon have the strength but it is still God who sends him out, again it’s not about what Gideon can do but about God enabling him.

Do you know the phrase “we are redeemed by the blood of Christ”
Literally - we are covered
After that, simultaneously we were sealed by the Holy Spirit,
Meaning, from the very first time, that moment when we uttered the words, “Jesus, forgive my sin, come into my life and be my Lord and Savior” form that moment until now, we are already enabled! God have already enabled us, equipped us for service.

BELIEVERS ARE EQUIPPED FOR SPIRITUAL TASKS

all of us here accepted the Lord right? Covered and redeemed by the blood of Christ, amen? Then we are already enabled by the Holy Spirit, then why would the Lord say...”but the workers are few”?
So I believe it is NOT JUST us responding to the call of telling others about Christ, bottom line IT IS US NOT responding TO DISCIPLE somebody so that there will be more workers!!

19 Jesus called out to them, “Come, follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people!”
We are enabled, from the beginning we were redeemed by His blood, we have the ability and we are equipped to do the ministry.
Ephesians 4 NLT
1 Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God. 2 Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love. 3 Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace. 4 For there is one body and one Spirit, just as you have been called to one glorious hope for the future. 5 There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 one God and Father of all, who is over all, in all, and living through all. 7 However, he has given each one of us a special gift through the generosity of Christ. 8 That is why the Scriptures say, “When he ascended to the heights, he led a crowd of captives and gave gifts to his people.” 9 Notice that it says “he ascended.” This clearly means that Christ also descended to our lowly world. 10 And the same one who descended is the one who ascended higher than all the heavens, so that he might fill the entire universe with himself. 11 Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. 12 Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. 13 This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ. 14 Then we will no longer be immature like children. So the so the right question is why are we not discipling somebody right now?
Do we doubt our position in Christ?
Are we afraid that we will slip, or make a mistake in representing Christ to others?
God has so equipped us that even the demons will hide when we start ministering.

1 One day Jesus called together his twelve disciples and gave them power and authority to cast out all demons and to heal all diseases. 2 Then he sent them out to tell everyone about the Kingdom of God and to heal the sick.

The great violinist, Nicolo Paganini, willed his marvelous violin to Genoa -- the city of his birth -- but only on condition that the instrument never be played upon. It was an unfortunate condition, for it is a peculiarity of wood that as long as it is used and handled, it shows little wear. As soon as it is discarded, it begins to decay. The exquisite, mellow-toned violin has become worm-eaten in its beautiful case, valueless except as a relic. The moldering instrument is a reminder that a life withdrawn from all service to others loses its meaning.

Remember the parable of the talents?
The master entrusted to his wealth to his servants..

3rd servant - 1
At the end of the parable the 3rd servant didn’t do anything about was given to him compared to the other other servants who invested what was given to them and gained more.
And in the last verse we see..

26 “But the master replied, ‘You wicked and lazy servant! If you knew I harvested crops I didn’t plant and gathered crops I didn’t cultivate, 27 why didn’t you deposit my money in the bank? At least I could have gotten some interest on it.’ 28 “Then he ordered, ‘Take the money from this servant, and give it to the one with the ten bags of silver. 29 To those who use well what they are given, even more will be given, and they will have an abundance. But from those who do nothing, even what little they have will be taken away.

Spiritual Gifts

All of us here are already enabled, equipped for spiritual tasks.
Each of us has unique talents and abilities. Most of us are not dynamic preachers or wealthy philanthropists, but our contribution is just as important. Paul wrote:
1 Corinthians 12:4–7 NLT
4 There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit is the source of them all. 5 There are different kinds of service, but we serve the same Lord. 6 God works in different ways, but it is the same God who does the work in all of us. 7 A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other.
“A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other”
We might not go through each of the spiritual gifts right now, but you have a copy in your hand and I suggest you study it and if you want to determine what spiritual gift you have, we have what we call Spiritual Gifts Test, just approach me, Pastor Ed or Pastor William and we can help you with that.
So the gifts that we have, if we don’t know it yet, we have to discover it. Why?

10 God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.

4 Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, 5 so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other. 6 In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you.

In his description of The Final Judgment, Jesus made it crystal clear that we will be judged on our response to the needs of others. He also listed some other examples of using our time and money wisely:
Everyone of us here have been given a gift, and each one’s contribution is of equal importance. What I know you don’t know, what you know I don’t know, everyone has a role to play, each one of us is part of a big puzzle, one can not do with out the other.
Mike Yaconelli in his book, Messy Spirituality, wrote of how individual believers, who may think they are insignificant, are brought together in the body of Christ to create a magnificent work of art.
Moorhead, Minnesota, the home of Concordia College, lies across the state line from Fargo, North Dakota, a very bleak part of the country (especially during the winter). All year, the community anticipates Concordia's annual Christmas concert. Each December, a huge choir and a full orchestra give a musical performance in the concert hall at the college.
Every year, the people in the community create a unique background for the concert—a one-hundred-by-thirty-foot mosaic. Beginning in the summer, about six months before the concert, the community designs a new mosaic, rents an empty building, and the painting begins. Hundreds of people, from junior high schoolers to senior citizens, paint the mosaic. They paint by number on a large-scale design that has thousands of tiny pieces. Day after day, month after month, one little painted piece at a time, the picture on the mosaic gradually takes shape.
When everyone has finished painting, an artist goes over the entire creation, perfecting the final work of art. When the mosaic is completed, they place it behind the choir. It has the appearance of an enormous, beautiful stained-glass window. The weekend of the concert, those people who helped paint arrive early, along with their friends and neighbors. Throughout the building, you can hear people whispering, "See that little green spot below the camel's foot? I painted it."
Every year in the middle of the summer in Moorhead, Minnesota, thousands of unknown, ordinary people paint a tiny insignificant tile. Six months later, the result is a spectacularly beautiful masterpiece.
It does not matter whether we have been given great talents, abilities and wealth, or very little. What matters to God is whether we make good use of what we have been given, whether large or small:
Luke 12:48 NLT
48 But someone who does not know, and then does something wrong, will be punished only lightly. When someone has been given much, much will be required in return; and when someone has been entrusted with much, even more will be required.
