I. Topic: Enthusiasm - Enthusiasm isn’t a product of your environment as much as the product of your heart.

A. Today I want to talk to you about - קִנְאָתִי לַיהוה - qinathi la-Adonai “Enthusiastic for the Lord.”
B. Too many people have lost their passion and zeal for life.
Once the fire was bright and burning but something has changed, and a flame has turned into a flicker.

C. The truth is, there's two different types of people in the world.

Theous, we get our word theology.
The study of God.
En theous, the root of enthusiasm, literally means in God, or it means filled with God.
Anytime from now on when you think of enthusiastic, what you need to understand is, what you're saying is, this is born out of intimacy with God.
Enthusiasm isn't just a mood, it's a spiritual result of an intimate relationship with God.
In fact, I want to show you just a couple of sets of verses to set the tone for our study on enthusiasm today.
There are those who let their environments influence their enthusiasm.

There are those who let what goes around them dictate the mood and spirit of their lives, and there are those who let the enthusiasm and mood and spirit of their lives influence the mood of those around them.
4. The truth is we can all have areas in life where it becomes stagnant.

If you are planning on staying positive, planning on seeing God take you to the next level in your life, planning on that miracle, that promotion, that next place you are going to have to stay full of zeal, enthusiasm for the Lord and you got to know how to get the fire back or keep the fire lit.

We are told to do everything with enthusiasm to the Lord.
The fast tract to the future is not through lackluster and complaining through enthusiasm and excitement.
We are told to do everything with zeal as unto the Lord.

If you are raising young children don’t’ hate it, love this.

If you are going to work and just putting in the bare minimum to get the job done, there is not wonder you are not the first to get promoted, the first to get a raise.
4. Always complaining, always leaving early, never staying late.
“Well, they don’t pay me enough.”
We are told to serve with enthusiasm and zeal unto the Lord regardless of the pay.
You do that and God will promote you better than any man can.
5. We should be examples of the zeal of the Lord of Hosts.
We should be asking ourselves, “Does my enthusiasm draw people to me.”
Or am I just a toxic person that pushes everybody away by my attitude, griping, gossiping and complaining.
Fictional Story of Tom Sawyer who made the most of painting the fence with enthusiasm.
He did it with a pep in his step and having fun.
His friends saw it and said, “Would you let us paint your fence.”
He said, “oh, no that is my fence, my project, I am really loving this.”
He played it up real good.
Well, what do you know Tom had all his friends doing all the work simply because they wanted what he had, “the enthusiasm, the joy.
Not just doing a job but doing something that was so meaningful it made a person feel good.”
See, you can’t get that unless you know you are working for God and not for men.
What would happened to you if you started living enthusiastically?
What if you started doing that when you were mowing your lawn.
Who knows, your neighbor might start cutting your lawn for you.
Do you know that employers like it when their employees like working for their company.
You show up every day with a good attitude, working hard.
Rather than just showing up.

Studies show that people get promoted not because of how smart they are or even how experienced they are but how enthusiastic they are about the company they work for.

There are always going to be some people who try to put the breaks on your enthusiasm.

D. Contempt is when you call people names, roll your eyes, sneer, mock, get sarcastic, general all around disgust about everything they do.
What contempt shows is not the speck in your brother’s eye but the log in your own.
Usually contempt is just a result of some negative thought or unresolved offense you have with your spouse or friend or even a child.
