Introduction

Review of last week:
Last week focused on consequences of obedience and disobedience. Obey, faithful, given more. Disobey, unfaithful, what you have is taken away. This included following the rebel into hell.
Parable of Minas – faithful receive more, unfaithful lose what they had
– Chief Priests and elders challenge Jesus’ authority. He tells the parable of the two sons, parable of the vineyard servants
Parable of Two Sons – sinner said no at first, then did the will of the Father, Israel yes but did not obey
Parable of Two Sons – sinner said no at first, then did the will of the Father, Israel yes but did not obey
Parable of the Vineyard Servants – tried to overthrow owner, keep fruit. Taken away, given to faithful producers
Another look at and 22 parables:
Parable of Two Sons – Father rejected
Parable of the Vineyard Servants – Son rejected
Ch.22 Parable of the Wedding Banquet – Spirit rejected
Three-fold rejection by Israel of the Trinity.
Gain an eternal perspective – looking at the long view rather than just today or tomorrow.

Chosen = selected as one prepared.
Chosen = selected as one prepared.
Think of the story of Gideon – selection of troops by those who were prepared
This theme will come up again in our remaining parables.

Conclusion

Israel believed they were the chosen people but they rejected God’s invitation to the Kingdom.
They rejected the Father, the Son, and His Spirit.
God took the Kingdom from Israel as a nation and invited the world. Only those who respond faithfully are chosen – those covered by the righteousness of Jesus Christ, by His blood for sin, by His Spirit in life, producing the fruit of righteousness.
