In the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month the ark rested

Great care was taken to note the exact date. The 17th day of this particular month will be an important date through the OT.
at this point, the ark comes to a pivotal point where its work against the stormy waters is finished.
years later, At the exodus, this calendar was changed. Around our April.

Now the Lord said to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, “This month shall be the beginning of months for you; it is to be the first month of the year to you.

The seventh month became the first month called Abib.

Deuteronomy 16:1 NASB95
“Observe the month of Abib and celebrate the Passover to the Lord your God, for in the month of Abib the Lord your God brought you out of Egypt by night.
Abib comes from the Hebrew word איבה pronounced ‘eebeha’ literally “greenness. it has to do with spring!

A Short Doctrine on the believer’s rest

much the same way as God established the ark upon the mountains of Ararat to rest, the believer today has a rest available to him. Not physical but spiritual.
John 14:27 NASB95
“Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.
The believers rest can be lost.
Heb
Hebrews 3:18 NASB95
And to whom did He swear that they would not enter His rest, but to those who were disobedient?
Rest in our day to day lives is absent when we aren’t finding rest in the finished work of Christ on an ongoing basis.
Examples of Failure:
Isaiah 57:20–21 NASB95
But the wicked are like the tossing sea, For it cannot be quiet, And its waters toss up refuse and mud. “There is no peace,” says my God, “for the wicked.”
Isaiah 48:22 NASB95
“There is no peace for the wicked,” says the Lord.
Isaiah 32:17 NASB95
And the work of righteousness will be peace, And the service of righteousness, quietness and confidence forever.
Moses
Hebrews 4:1 NASB95
Therefore, let us fear if, while a promise remains of entering His rest, any one of you may seem to have come short of it.
This rest cannot be obtained from men, even spiritual men.
Hebrews 4:8 NASB95
For if Joshua had given them rest, He would not have spoken of another day after that.
Not from the world, not from our flesh. These do no provide rest!
1 John 2:15–16 NASB95
Do not love the world nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world.
Romans 8:7 NASB95
because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so,
Rather it only comes through Jesus Christ on the basis of faith
Romans 8:6 NASB95
For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace,
Matthew 11:28–29 NASB95
“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. “Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
2 Thessalonians 3:16 NASB95
Now may the Lord of peace Himself continually grant you peace in every circumstance. The Lord be with you all!
Romans 8:6 NASB95
For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace,
Christ gives us rest. Falling out of rest is something that should concern us!
Hebrews 4:11 NASB95PARA
Therefore let us be diligent to enter that rest, so that no one will fall, through following the same example of disobedience.
As the ark rested, so we too have been given access into His rest in the storm at any given moment, situation or place.
Colossians 3:15 NASB95
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful.
The only “work” left for us to do today is to enter His rest. We are to labor every day to enter His rest. We find rest inwardly when we believe that the work is done because it is a finished work, and trust in God’s undeserved favor toward us. Like the ark that was brought to rest on the mountains of Ararat, So too, Jesus Christ has rested from his work and offers His rest to anyone that has come and will take on his yoke.
Ephesians 2:6 NASB95
and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,
Let’s enjoy sitting together with Christ in the heavenly places, then we will run and not be weary!
Let’s enjoy sitting together with Christ in the heavenly places, then we will run and not be weary!
Isaiah 40:31 NASB95
Yet those who wait for the Lord Will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary.
)
How well we walk enjoying His peace depends on how well we sit and rest in the finished work of Christ.
