How To Find Rest

Let’s tak

This is what the Lord says: “Stop at the crossroads and look around. Ask for the old, godly way, and walk in it. Travel its path, and you will find rest for your souls. But you reply, ‘No, that’s not the road we want!’

16 This is what the Lord says: “Stop at the crossroads and look around. Ask for the old, godly way, and walk in it. Travel its path, and you will find rest for your souls. But you reply, ‘No, that’s not the road we want!’

, Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”

28 Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

29 Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

30 For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”

I. The Person

“Come unto me …” ().

A. Many are trying to find rest by going on vacations, taking up hobbies, and seeking pleasures and entertainment.

B. Many are trying to find rest by going to doctors, lawyers, friends, and counselors.

C. Jesus Christ is the Person who can give lasting and enduring rest. Other ways and means help but they are ineffective without the Person

II. The People

“All ye that labour and are heavy laden …” ().

A. Millions of people today are laden down with sin and guilt.

B. Many Christians are encumbered with doubts, worries, and the cares of life.

C. The “people, All of us” includes all who are heavy laden. No one is excluded. Jesus has compassion for every individual.

When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were confused and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.

36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were confused and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.

III. The Promise

“And I will give you rest” ().

A. This promise means forgiveness, freedom from bondage and guilt, and rest from fear of death and eternal retribution.

B. This promise releases the Christian from doubts and worry. It brings freedom from the cares and burdens of life, everything.

C. This promise assures us of future and eternal realities. Complete and perfect rest awaits those who place their faith and trust in “The Person, Jesus Christ”

---9 So there is a special rest still waiting for the people of God. 10 For all who have entered into God’s rest have rested from their labors, just as God did after creating the world. 11 So let us do our best to enter that rest. But if we disobey God, as the people of Israel did, we will fall.
