WHY DO PEOPLE LEAVE AN ORGANIZATION?

FACT: The # 1 reason is because of a bad leader

FACT: If you had a great leader, you probably loved what you did

FACT: Just because you are in charge, does not mean you are a good leader

FACT: Responsibility can bring out the best or the worst in you

FACT: Power usually brings out our insecurities, not our confidence

FACT: The goal of leadership is not power or position, it is trust and influence

SIGNS OF AN INSECURE LEADER

1) Fake Behavior

INSECURITY: Trying to be someone you’re not

SOLUTION: The real you is the best you

2) Defensive Behavior

INSECURITY: Protecting your pride

SOLUTION: Stop blaming, start admitting

3) Competitive Behavior

INSECURITY: Can’t celebrate someone else’s success

SOLUTION: Don’t overpower; empower

4) Sensitive Behavior

INSECURITY: Taking yourself too seriously

SOLUTION: Laugh at yourself sometimes

5) Controlling Behavior

INSECURITY: Micro-managing every detail

SOLUTION: Do what only you can do and give away the rest

2) A boss assigns blame, but a leader takes responsibility

PROBLEM: Limiting progress

5) A boss is guarded, a leader is transparent

PROBLEM: People won’t connect with you
