Isaiah 9:6 NKJV
For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Easter is a time of celebration. It is interesting to me how many people honor the Resurrection like it was only a funeral. Let me tell you something Jesus put the fun in funeral because He overcame death, He overcame sin, and He overcame Hell. He did die on the Cross as a sacrifice for our sins but three days later He rose from the dead.
Jesus died and He lived to tell about it!
As I was preparing for this Resurrection Sunday message I was going to speak on the Precious Blood of Jesus. For a few weeks I could feel the Holy Spirit leading me in a whole different direction He was stirring something inside of me and one night I was talking with Brian Cessna and he said you know God is so wonderful: When Brian said that something leapt inside of me. I felt God say “remind my people how Wonderful I am”. When He said that there was no pride in His words it was simply a statement of the obvious.
v Jesus has many names: Savior, Messiah, Redeemer, Healer, Comforter, Provider, Salvation, Deliverer, Way Maker. God is the Alpha the Omega, Creator. Mighty God, Everlasting Father and Prince of Peace.
In all my years as a Christian and in all my years of listening to sermons never have I once heard a message on the name Wonderful. Wonderful is not just a description of who He is and what He does - His name is Wonderful.

1) Wonderful means

Inspiring, delightful, magnificent, superb, awesome, astonishing (it takes your breath away because what you are seeing is so worth admiring.) Wonderful is extremely good. Wonderful is something transcendent and beyond the common; something that is miles beyond the ordinary. It means something altogether unlike anything else.
When you look at the Grand Canyon, Niagara Falls or El Capitan in Yellowstone National park you know you are seeing something wonderful.
When David killed Goliath, when Peter walked on water or Moses parted the Red Sea so Israel could cross over. You are learning about something simply magnificent.
There are moments in the life of every Christians walk that when you press in and get to know Him that you realize how extraordinary our God is.
He is not Mr. Wonderful he simply is Wonderful. Just like you can stand and be overwhelmed by the immensity of the Grand Canyon when you are in the presence of God you realize the enormity of who He is and the capacity that He is can never be grasped by the human mind.
We used to sing a song- I stand in awe of you
You are beautiful beyond description Too marvelous for words Too wonderful for comprehension Like nothing ever seen or heard Who can grasp Your infinite wisdom Who can fathom the depth of Your love You are beautiful beyond description Majesty enthroned above
Chorus
And I stand I stand in awe of You I stand I stand in awe of You Holy God to whom all praise is due I stand in awe of You
1 Corinthians 2:9 NKJV
But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”

2) His love for us is Wonderful

- But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”
2) His love for us is Wonderful
For God so loved the world that He gave His only son. The love of God is so extravagant that it can leave you speechless. Of all the needs that people have is the need to be loved. We don’t need to be admired, we don’t need to be “successful” we don’t need to be liked by everyone. All of us were created with the need to be loved.
The Bible says that there is no greater love than for someone to die for somebody else. We hear songs about the greatest love of all but not once do they mention the selflessness of giving up everything so that the other person can live. The greatest love loses not just themselves but their life so that someone can gain theirs. This is what makes what God and His son Jesus did so wonderful.
This Resurrection Sunday I pray that all of us have the life changing revelation of the love of God. The love of God is so accepting, so selfless, so complete so all encompassing that it transforms all who are the object of His affection.
The love of a spouse the love or a child will fill you with joy but it can never make you whole it can never make you complete. The love of God makes us perfect, healed, and whole. Paul prayed for the saints to realize the enormity of God’s love for them.
Ephesians 3:17–19 ESV
so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
It is the love of God that fills us. Not anything else. It is realizing that nothing can separate you from His love. What a powerful realization.
- that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— 19 to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
It is the love of God that fills us. Not anything else. It is realizing that nothing can separate you from His love. What a powerful realization.
Romans 8:38–39 NKJV
For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
He is wonderful
- For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
He is wonderful

2) He is wonderful in the beauty of Holiness.

God is entirely pure, righteous and clean. In Him there is no spot or blemish. He IS Truth. There is no falsehood or wickedness in Him. He is able to cleanse us from sin because He has never missed the mark.
1 John 1:5 NKJV
This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.
1 - This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.
In Isaiah chapter 6 the prophet was given a glimpse of heaven and the Lord sitting on His throne. Around Him were angels crying Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord of Hosts the whole earth is filled with His glory. Immediately Isaiah cried out woe is me for I am a man of unclean lips who dwells among people with unclean lips. An angel came to him with a coal from the altar and touched his lips purged his iniquity or sin.

Immediately Isaiah cried out woe is me for I am a man of unclean lips who dwells among people with unclean lips. An angel came to him with a coal from the altar and touched his lips purged his iniquity or sin.
The holiness of God is wonderful. He is so clean and pure and we are not. A revelation of this will leave us undone and in awe. Only a holy God can make us holy. He is wonderful.

3) His creation is wonderful

From the oceans to the mountains to the desert and space He is wonderful. From the complexity of DNA to the beauty found in a sunset. He is wonderful. From the delicate fragrance of a flower to the towering Redwood tree He is wonderful.
From the tiny shell of a snail to the mud dobbers nest on the side of a barn He is wonderful. From the bumble bee and the humming bird to the Bald Eagle He is wonderful.
The same God who made the lion and the giraffe made the duckbilled platypus and the wolverine. He is wonderful.
If you want to see the wonder of God sit by the side of a lake and listen to the gentle lapping of water on the shore or stand by the ocean and hear the roar of the waves. Stand in a field of wheat and feel the breeze as the wind cools you down in the evening or you can observe the amazing power of a tornado. He is wonderful.
Romans 1:20 AMP
For ever since the creation of the world His invisible nature and attributes, that is, His eternal power and divinity, have been made intelligible and clearly discernible in and through the things that have been made (His handiworks). So [men] are without excuse [altogether without any defense or justification],
you want to know how wonderful God is just look at His creation. All of us have stood at the ocean’s edge or up at a mountain top in awe or the beauty of the Lord.
(AMP) - For ever since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through His workmanship [all His creation, the wonderful things that He has made], so that they [who fail to believe and trust in Him] are without excuse and without defense.
Luke 19:40 AMP
He replied, I tell you that if these keep silent, the very stones will cry out.
If you want to know how wonderful God is just look at His creation. All of us have stood at the ocean’s edge or up at a mountain top in awe or the beauty of the Lord.
How many times have you looked at something God has made from an animal to a body’s circulatory system or a mountain view and asked How can people not know there is a God. I want to tell you right now the rocks already cry out and the Heavens declare the glory of God.
– (AMP) - Jesus replied, “I tell you, if these [people] keep silent, the stones will cry out [in praise]!”
Psalm 19:1 NKJV
The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork.
How many times have you looked at something God has made from an animal to a body’s circulatory system or a mountain view and asked How can people not know there is a God. I want to tell you right now the rocks already cry out and the Heavens declare the glory of God.
The other week Steven Hawking a devout atheist declared that there was something before there was anything. He said all of this started from a dense singularity. He is so right.
- The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship.
The other week Steven Hawking a devout atheist declared that there was something before there was anything. He said all of this started from a dense singularity. He is so right.
God is the uncaused cause He is the singular singularity that all things find their origin from.

4) His Kindness is Wonderful

Jesus came to free us from our sins and all our wicked ways and our uncleanness. In all our brokenness we expect God to be harsh and to treat us with wrath because He is holy. By His death on the cross and His resurrection Jesus calls us to repentance.
The truth is when we think of repentance we think of mean spirited preachers or Christians call us in an angry manner to turn from our wicked ways. But that is not how God brings us to repentance.
Romans 2:4 AMP
Or are you [so blind as to] trifle with and presume upon and despise and underestimate the wealth of His kindness and forbearance and long-suffering patience? Are you unmindful or actually ignorant [of the fact] that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repent (to change your mind and inner man to accept God’s will)?
God has been so good to us so gentle. God’s creativity is not limited His creation but His care and approach to us. He is a God who will judge with wrath but His desire is to care for us as His children. How kind he has been, how tender, how gentle when you needed a touch.
(AMP) - Or do you have no regard for the wealth of His kindness and tolerance and patience [in withholding His wrath]? Are you [actually] unaware or ignorant [of the fact] that God’s kindness leads you to repentance [that is, to change your inner self, your old way of thinking—seek His purpose for your life]? (NLT) Don’t you see how wonderfully kind, tolerant, and patient God is with you? Does this mean nothing to you? Can’t you see that his kindness is intended to turn you from your sin?
Lamentations 3:22–23 NKJV
Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.
God has been so good to us so gentle. God’s creativity is not limited His creation but His care and approach to us. He is a God who will judge with wrath but His desire is to care for us as His children. How kind he has been, how tender, how gentle when you needed a touch.
How many here have experienced the mercy and goodness of God. Mercy means that you don’t get what you deserve and kindness is the tone and touch that He delivers His mercy to us. His mercies are new every day. That is faithfulness He never gives up on us even when we would have given up on ourselves. HE IS WONDERFUL. He is not over bearing but gentle. His yoke is easy and His burden is light.

5) He Wonderfully Protects provides and Delivers us.

How many jams has God gotten us out of? How many times has He come through for us? How many times has He made a way when there was no way? How many times has He provided in times of need when we had no way of providing for ourselves. How many times has He led us and guided us when we had no idea which way to turn. HE is Wonderful.
Psalm 124:1–8 NKJV
“If it had not been the Lord who was on our side,” Let Israel now say— “If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, When men rose up against us, Then they would have swallowed us alive, When their wrath was kindled against us; Then the waters would have overwhelmed us, The stream would have gone over our soul; Then the swollen waters Would have gone over our soul.” Blessed be the Lord, Who has not given us as prey to their teeth. Our soul has escaped as a bird from the snare of the fowlers; The snare is broken, and we have escaped. Our help is in the name of the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.
If it had not been for Jesus we would have been done for.
:1-8
- If the Lord had not been on our side— let Israel say— 2 If the Lord had not been on our side when people attacked us, 3 then they would have swallowed us alive in their burning anger against us. 4 Then the water would have engulfed us; the torrent would have swept over us; 5 the raging water would have swept over us. 6 Blessed be the Lord, who has not let us be ripped apart by their teeth. 7 We have escaped like a bird from the hunter’s net; the net is torn, and we have escaped. 8 Our help is in the name of the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.
Psalm 40:2–3 NKJV
He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, Out of the miry clay, And set my feet upon a rock, And established my steps. He has put a new song in my mouth— Praise to our God; Many will see it and fear, And will trust in the Lord.
If it had not been for Jesus we would have been done for.
We often say that our help is in the name of the Lord and while Jesus is the name the name that is above all of His names His name is Wonderful. Our help is in the Wonderful name of Jesus.
- He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along. 3 He has given me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see what he has done and be amazed. They will put their trust in the Lord.
We often say that our help is in the name of the Lord and while Jesus is the name the name that is above all of His names His name is Wonderful. Our help is in the Wonderful name of Jesus.

6) His ways are Wonderful

I have heard many people say this. I trust God but I don’t always understand His ways.
If you have ever been there say a good amen! The way God does things thinks about things
Job 42:3 NKJV
You asked, ‘Who is this who hides counsel without knowledge?’ Therefore I have uttered what I did not understand, Things too wonderful for me, which I did not know.
- Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!
Romans 11:33 NKJV
Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!
- You asked, ‘Who is this that questions my wisdom with such ignorance?’ It is I—and I was talking about things I knew nothing about, things far too wonderful for me.
Psalm 92:5 AMP
How great are Your doings, O Lord! Your thoughts are very deep.
- Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!
His ways are higher than our ways His thoughts are higher than our thoughts. The way that God does things will leave you in absolute awe of who He is. HE is wisdom, He is knowledge He is the Way He is the Truth and He is the Life. It is not His way or the Highway He is the only way. He is wonderful.
(AMP) - How great are Your works, O Lord! Your thoughts are very deep [beyond man’s understanding].

7) Because He is Wonderful You are Wonderful

The truth is that you can look at some people and they do indeed make you wonder.
Understand you are not a mistake. You were never and accident. Oh you may have been unplanned by your parents but you were designed by God.
Psalm 139:13–14 NKJV
For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.
Somebody needs to hear this today. You are purposefully and wonderfully made. You are God’s creation. You are unique. You are not a unique freak. You are beautiful in the sight of God. He formed you, made you, created you and you are marvelous. David said and that my soul knows very well. You are marvelously you. Do you know how marvelous and how wonderful you are? I believe one of the ways that God’s resurrection power works in our lives is to cause us to realize that we are wonderfully made. That is not pride it is simply a recognition that you are God’s handy work. You are a wonder as certainly as any of God’s other creations. God made you so that when others see you they know that there is a God. Think about that. He is Wonderful.
