Happy new Years Eve. We are about to put 2017 in the annuals of history, and I want to challenge you this next year to be on the look out for new things. Its hard to move forward when you are strapped to the past. Its hard to look forward and look in the rear view mirror at the same time. I don’t know what this next year may hold. It may be filled with sweet blessing or tremendous heartache. It may be like a roller coaster or like floating on the lazy river. But whatever this year may bring, we know the One who brings the Year. The one that has absolute control over time and circumstances
The Lord has been dealing with me about Vision. (Link this to the salve of the eyes)
If you aim at nothing you will hit it every time. Whatever the year may bring this is my prayer, that we would not stay the same. It is in human nature to have clear direction and focus. Without them we are just floating aimlessly in life. Bored and rolling around in sin. Without vision, clear direction and a passionate purpose you will not live the super natural life that jesus wants and desires for you to live. Jesus told the church at Laodicea, how he wished they were cold or hot, but because they were Luke Warm. He would vomit them out of His mouth.
18 Where there is no prophetic vision the people cast off restraint,
but blessed is he who keeps the law.
10 Whoever misleads the upright into an evil way
will fall into his own pit,
but the blameless will have a goodly inheritance.
Proverbs 29:
Now how many times have you heard someone say, where there is no vision we just need to get a vision. We need a leader to come in here and cast vision for us? Well I actually like the ESV version of this scripture. Where there is no Prophetic vision the people cast off restraint, or the people perish. That is when there is no vision that come from God the people perish. So its not just as easy as saying well we just got to get a plan together. We just need to have some goals to meet, get the right people with the right types of charismatic personalities and then we will soar. Listen psalms says unless the Lord Builds the house those who labor labor ion vain.
You need vision, not just any vision, you need prophetic vision. You need a word from the lord. because if you don’t notice what the outcome will be. The people will cast off restraint.
The word restraint, or as the King james translates it the people perish.... It means to become wild or free from restraint, it speaks of a person whose life is spinning wildly out of control.
You will join the broken multitude out there that said, yeah I tried jesus, it really didn’t work out that well for me. Listen what lies in wait for you apart from the love, grace and mercy of God wont exactly work out for you either. When there is no vision you will find your thrills and spills elsewhere, When you no longer hear the voice of truth, you will give in to the voice of the lies. You will begin to look at the circus around you, you will get duped by everyone's social media pics with the smiling faces, while the great majority are dieing inside. Withering away

Now lets get into our scripture for the day
14 “And to the angel of the church in Laodicea write: ‘The words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of God’s creation.
15 “ ‘I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were either cold or hot! 16 So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth. 17 For you say, I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing, not realizing that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked. 18 I counsel you to buy from me gold refined by fire, so that you may be rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself and the shame of your nakedness may not be seen, and salve to anoint your eyes, so that you may see. 19 Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline, so be zealous and repent. 20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me. 21 The one who conquers, I will grant him to sit with me on my throne, as I also conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne.

Now in this passage Jesus is speaking to a church that has grown comfortable and dull. Though they had plenty of things they no longer were trusting the Lord Jesus for anything. They were a church that had flawed appetites and deceptive desires. They were a church that had lost their prophetic vision. They had sank into the mire of comfort and ease. I know that they had lost their prophetic vision because he counsels them to buy some items from Him and one of the items was salve for their eyes. Now this is obviously hyperbole
19 Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline, so be zealous and repent.
Do you know who I worry about? I am not worried about the drug addict or prostitute that are out and out sinners. At least they know where they are before God. The ones that I really worry about, are the ones that claim the name of Jesus but they never have any discipline from the Lord in their life. There is never a grieving of the holy Spirit, there is never a breaking of their heart, or they are never able to bring themselves to forgive or ask for forgiveness about anything. They can live self consumed and it never even bother them.... But when you ask them, Oh yes pastor I am saved.... Listen you heard it straight from the lips of the Lord? those whom I love, I reprove and discipline. reprove means to expose and convict… Discipline is the course of action that brings correction. The word discipline means to train, to educate, to instruct. If you are a child of God that doesn’t mean He wants you to stay childish.
Now if there is going to be prophetic Revelation in your life there are some things that you must do....
FIRST THERE MUST BE A CHANGE OF ATTITUDE TOWARDS GOD… We call this repentance

Revelation 3:
He says you don’t realize these things about yourself. Its kind of like the story about the Emporerors New clothes. in the story some con men convince that they have a suite of clotehs that only the most educated people can see. Well the Emporer into thinking he had a suite, He goes out into the streets and everyone is pretending to see the clothes until one little boy yells out the Emporor doesn’t have any clothes . The operative word is repentance rather we are off 1 degree or 180 degrees. You know you may not have any gross sin in your life, but I am sure you can always go deeper

Airplanes can fly “nose down without actually descending. They can fly “nose up”
without actually climbing. They can “side slip” – be turned sideways while flying straight ahead.
All of these situations require ATTITUDE adjustment or the plane will not function to its design
capabilities. This is really no big deal unless you actually WANT the plane to fly to its design
capability. In that case – you MUST make a correction.
This year I want to experience Christ in anew ways. I want to experience god in a mighty way that I have never seen before. Christians may all may enjoy God but they certainly don’t enjoy him the same. Some

The elementary doctrines-
Illustration- We were in Oklahoma this past week visiting family. And during that time my son became ill. in fact He was running a fever of 102 and had the chills. He was filling miserable and the Spirit of God moved me to go pray for him. Can I tell you that praying for the sick is always something that I’ve had a problem with. Just because early on when I was a young Christian I had a lot of spunk, A lot os zeal that I mis understood for faith and I tried praying for some people with those bold loud prayers and nothing happened.
I would much rather deal with demon possession then the sick. but I went in and prayed over my son, not loud and boisterous, but very quiet almost a whisper to where he nor Stacey could hear me and when I was finished immediately left the room. And a few minutes later he was out of bed goofing off like he normally is…
Can i tell you that the Bible calls these things the elementary things.... why is it elementary for most? Because we are still working on a foundation of repenting when we should be shrinking the roof! May I tell you that if you are just wanting to know where the line is of right and wrong, that you are completely ,missing it. Can I tell you that there are great and precious things that God wants to show us, things that we can’t even get our mind around. But we are stuck in level one when we should be a level 100.

GOLD REFINED BY FIRE (This cost us something right?).... Now I am not going to attempt to tell you that how I am about to interpret these things are hard core yes this is it… But obviously Jesus is speaking in hyperobole, or Metaphorically, and it does have a literal meaning..

What might this gold be that is refined by fire.... Well all I can tell you that in scripture Gold is often used to speak of the dinie nature of God. For instance in the Temple everything inside was overlaid with gold. The Ark of the Covenant was overlaid in Gold. And the presence of God rested upon that mercy seat. And fire well fire is a picture of the Holy Spirit and His sanctifying and empowering work… that really makes baptist begin to get nervous....

11 “I baptize you with water for repentance, but he who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. 12 His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor and gather his wheat into the barn, but the chaff he will burn with unquenchable fire.”

With this thing of vision, the Lord has been showing me that I treat Him and this Christian experience like it is a tri cycle when its would be closer to an F16…. For far too long we have been satisfied with going up and coming down. Taking off and landing
This morning we are going to be looking closer at the church of Laodicea to see what we do not want to be. Right there are two types of parents in the world. There are the parents that are good examples. Very effective way of parenting. And then there is the parents that you learn this is not how its supposed to be done! Right well the church at Laodicea was much like this
There are a couple of enemies to your prosperity. Not speaking of financial prosperity, though that may very well be a part of it..

How many of you wish that you could go back to change things?
How many of you wish that you could go back and change some things in your life?
How many of you think that if you could just get a new start then you could get the step up that you are desperately needing?
It is hard to prosper under the weight of debt? That is certainly true in the sphere of finances right?
It also applies to sin. In fact there are several times in scripture that sin is described a form of debt, it is certainly a burden. It is a crime commited that robs you of freedom
