HOW TO RECRUIT THE BEST PEOPLE

You aren’t called to do everything, but you are called to do something

You don’t build the team, you build the people who build the team

Build a vision people want to follow

HOW TO RECRUIT THE BEST PEOPLE

1) Begin with the End

PROBLEM: Appointing volunteers to general roles

SOLUTION: Recruit specific people

EXAMPLE: Tasks, Responsibilities, Goals

NOTE: Prepare for the future not just the present

2) Be Ruthlessly Selective

PROBLEM: Appointing volunteers who are available

PROBLEM: Appointing volunteers who are available

SOLUTION: Recruit values, not talents

EXAMPLE: Youth volunteers

EXAMPLE: Individual and Group values

NOTE: It’s always easier to add then it is to remove

3) Have an Intentional Plan

EXAMPLE: Skills, Values, Behaviors, Character

PROBLEM: Appointing volunteers who you know

SOLUTION: Recruit the best people, not your best friends

EXAMPLE: Skills, Values, Behaviors, Character

NOTE: Know what you want from your leaders

4) Train and Release

PROBLEM: Volunteers aren’t growing

SOLUTION: Give more responsibility and feedback

EXAMPLE: Leadership Training, Evaluations, Projects

NOTE: Great teams are not accidental

APPLICATION

#1: Never recruit out of desperation

#2: Recruit people better than you

#3: Ask new recruits the most questions
