Who is Jesus? A Savior, A Jewish man, God in the Flesh, Emmanuel,
He is Messiah and more specifically a King.
Isaiah 9:6–7 HCSB
For a child will be born for us, a son will be given to us, and the government will be on His shoulders. He will be named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. The dominion will be vast, and its prosperity will never end. He will reign on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish and sustain it with justice and righteousness from now on and forever. The zeal of the Lord of Hosts will accomplish this.
He was prophesied as a coming King. At his birth, the angels, shepherds worshiped the newborn king. Later the wise men would come while Herod tried to kill this one who had been born the “King of the Jews.” At his death, in order to mock him, they placed a crown upon His head, and a sign upon the cross saying, “Jesus the Nazarene, King of the Jews.” In the book of Revelation, we see the one who returns and reigns upon the earth, Jesus the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
Even in their earthly ministries, John the Baptist and Jesus both began preaching a message of repentance for the Kingdom of heaven is at hand.
Many were wondering where the Kingdom was?
Intro, Now and Later Candy.

Today, God’s Kingdom is often overlooked and ignored.

One of the major themes of Scripture is that of the Kingdom of God.

Daniel 7:13–14 HCSB
13 I continued watching in the night visions, and I saw One like a son of man coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was escorted before Him. 14 He was given authority to rule, and glory, and a kingdom; so that those of every people, nation, and language should serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and His kingdom is one that will not be destroyed.
He reigns as King Now in human hearts.

10,000 Sermon Illustrations Biblical Prophecy

For every prophecy in the Bible concerning Christ’s first advent, there are 8 which look forward to His second!

Daniel 7:13–14 HCSB
I continued watching in the night visions, and I saw One like a son of man coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was escorted before Him. He was given authority to rule, and glory, and a kingdom; so that those of every people, nation, and language should serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and His kingdom is one that will not be destroyed.
Revelation 1:7 HCSB
7 Look! He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him, including those who pierced Him. And all the families of the earth will mourn over Him. This is certain. Amen.
every eye will see him. It is obvious, not a secret coming. v. 24, 30) revealed v. 30

The Sight of King Jesus (vv. 22-24, 30)

V. 22-23
False Messiahs- Jose Luis de Jesus Miranda- Growing in grace ministries in Miami, FL or aka “God’s government on earth.” Though he denied the reality of sin, hell, and the Bible, He claimed to be Jesus Christ, who has returned in Him. - August 8,2013 died of cirrosis of the liver.

of a King.
Revelation 1:7 HCSB
7 Look! He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him, including those who pierced Him. And all the families of the earth will mourn over Him. This is certain. Amen.
The Blessed Hope Chapter 3: The Vocabulary of the Blessed Hope

(1 Thess. 4:15–17). It is very difficult to find a secret coming of Christ in these verses. His coming will be attended with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the heavenly trumpet. Someone has said that the shout and the trumpet sound will be loud enough to wake the dead!

Revelation 1:7 HCSB
7 Look! He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him, including those who pierced Him. And all the families of the earth will mourn over Him. This is certain. Amen.

V. 30 “he is revealed.” his eternal, radiant glory. we will not say a bruised, beaten, and crucified savior, but rather we will see Him in the eternal radiant glory of a victorious king.
verb form of the word apokalypto, to disclose, unveil something that was hidden, to be revealed.
If one is in a dark, dark room, but then a match is lit, all attention will go to the light. It is true that the Scriptures point out that the hearts of people will grow harder and darker in this world. The radiance of God will be displayed as Jesus returns and nobody will miss it.
As believers we look forward to this apocalypse.
1 Corinthians 1:7 HCSB
7 so that you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 1:7 HCSB
7 so that you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ.
This day, however, will not be good for unbelievers.

The Storm of King Jesus (vv. 26-30)

Nahum 1:1–8 HCSB
1 The oracle concerning Nineveh. The book of the vision of Nahum the Elkoshite. 2 The Lord is a jealous and avenging God; the Lord takes vengeance and is fierce in wrath. The Lord takes vengeance against His foes; He is furious with His enemies. 3 The Lord is slow to anger but great in power; the Lord will never leave the guilty unpunished. His path is in the whirlwind and storm, and clouds are the dust beneath His feet. 4 He rebukes the sea so that it dries up, and He makes all the rivers run dry. Bashan and Carmel wither; even the flower of Lebanon withers. 5 The mountains quake before Him, and the hills melt; the earth trembles at His presence— the world and all who live in it. 6 Who can withstand His indignation? Who can endure His burning anger? His wrath is poured out like fire, even rocks are shattered before Him. 7 The Lord is good, a stronghold in a day of distress; He cares for those who take refuge in Him. 8 But He will completely destroy Nineveh with an overwhelming flood, and He will chase His enemies into darkness.
Nahum 1:2–7 ESV
2 The Lord is a jealous and avenging God; the Lord is avenging and wrathful; the Lord takes vengeance on his adversaries and keeps wrath for his enemies. 3 The Lord is slow to anger and great in power, and the Lord will by no means clear the guilty. His way is in whirlwind and storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet. 4 He rebukes the sea and makes it dry; he dries up all the rivers; Bashan and Carmel wither; the bloom of Lebanon withers. 5 The mountains quake before him; the hills melt; the earth heaves before him, the world and all who dwell in it. 6 Who can stand before his indignation? Who can endure the heat of his anger? His wrath is poured out like fire, and the rocks are broken into pieces by him. 7 The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; he knows those who take refuge in him.
Storm=Wrath-
God is not one who flies off the handle, but is a God of perfect Justice. He does not fly off the handle, but has rather spoken, warning all who would hear His Word that the day of wrath is coming.
V. 27,29
Noah and the flood, Lot and fire and sulfur,
If Jesus comes back again, we’ll kill him again.
Nahum 1:2–7 ESV
The Lord is a jealous and avenging God; the Lord is avenging and wrathful; the Lord takes vengeance on his adversaries and keeps wrath for his enemies. Malachi 3:2 HCSB
But who can endure the day of His coming? And who will be able to stand when He appears? For He will be like a refiner’s fire and like cleansing lye.
one will be taken the other left.
God does not fly off the handle, but has told us to that He will come.

one will be taken the other left.
This will be a day that believers look forward to, but it will be a day of wrath for unbelievers. The King that they ignored, that they rebelled against, will overwhelm them.
2 Thessalonians 1:6–9 HCSB
6 since it is righteous for God to repay with affliction those who afflict you 7 and to reward with rest you who are afflicted, along with us. This will take place at the revelation of the Lord Jesus from heaven with His powerful angels, 8 taking vengeance with flaming fire on those who don’t know God and on those who don’t obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. 9 These will pay the penalty of eternal destruction from the Lord’s presence and from His glorious strength

Those who do not submit to the King’s love and Lordship Now, will experience the King’s wrath and judgement later.

The Surprise of King Jesus (vv. 26-30)

By the year 2050, 41% of Americans believe that Jesus Christ definitely (23%) or probably (18%) will have returned to earth. However, a 46%-plurality of the public does not believe Christ will return during the next 40 years. -Pew Research Center 2010 survey.
Yet many will be surprised...
We are not in the dark for that day to overtake you like a thief. A thief is totally unexpected.
1 Thessalonians 5:2–4 HCSB
2 For you yourselves know very well that the Day of the Lord will come just like a thief in the night. 3 When they say, “Peace and security,” then sudden destruction comes on them, like labor pains come on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. 4 But you, brothers, are not in the dark, for this day to overtake you like a thief.
1 Thessalonians 5:
Believers, however, are not in the dark. Though each believer will not know the day or the hour of His return, believers are to live with the expectation that He will return at some point. And God has given the signs of the end, in order to keep believers watching the skies expectantly, for the return of their King.

Story
Joy to the World is actually about the second coming. As believers we can look forward to it with joy.
Joy to the world! the Saviour reigns; Let men their songs employ; While fields and floods, rocks, hills, and plains Repeat the sounding joy, Repeat the sounding joy, Repeat, repeat the sounding joy.
No more let sins and sorrows grow, Nor thorns infest the ground; He comes to make His blessings flow Far as the curse is found, Far as the curse is found, Far as, far as, the curse is found.
He rules the world with truth and grace, And makes the nations prove The glories of His righteousness, And wonders of His love, And wonders of His love, And wonders, wonders, of His love.
