11 While traveling to Jerusalem, He passed between Samaria and Galilee. 12 As He entered a village, 10 men with serious skin diseases met Him. They stood at a distance 13 and raised their voices, saying, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!”
14 When He saw them, He told them, “Go and show yourselves to the priests.” And while they were going, they were healed.
15 But one of them, seeing that he was healed, returned and, with a loud voice, gave glory to God. 16 He fell facedown at His feet, thanking Him. And he was a Samaritan.
17 Then Jesus said, “Were not 10 cleansed? Where are the nine? 18 Didn’t any return to give glory to God except this foreigner?” 19 And He told him, “Get up and go on your way. Your faith has made you well.”

Background of Leprosy. Leprosy was a skin disease that was common in biblical times. Even today, there are leper colonies in India and Japan. The modern day form of leprosy is a painful disease where one become numb to pain and one’s skin rots, dies, and falls off. People lose fingers and toes to it. The disease described in the Bible as leprosy seems to be a little different than modern day, but still painful and dangerous. It would show itself with white patches on the skin and was highly contagious. You will recall Namaan and King Uzziah. The most painful part was not the disease itself, but the way it completely disrupted life. Leviticus

Relation between faith and obedience. Faith is of the heart, but it shows itself in obedience. faith is simply believing and trusting in what God had said. It shows itself in obedience.

ONly 1 expresses it. and Jesus says it gave glory to God. Perhaps the others felt that they deserved it because they were already somewhat deserving.
