Text
Apostle Paul compared Love with the gifts of the Holy Spirit
Paul founded the church at Corinth between AD 50 and 52
The Christians at Corinth are proud & lively
They are gifted but quarrelsome
There was rivalry between the leaders
They also argue about the value of their spiritual gifts
Believers in Corinth emphasized the gift of tongues as a sign of Christ dwelling with someone
And so to clarify matters, Paul wrote this letter from Ephesus about a year or two later...
On this part of his letter he deals with the superiority of love over any spiritual gifts
Paul said that all these gifts may end but love never will..
Therefore, love is the true sign of someone who follows Christ
Love is the true sign of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit
It is not the gift of tongues, the gift of prophecy or gift of knowledge that will show who are the true followers of Christ
But it is our love for each other that will show that we are disciples of Jesus

Unless you have it, you cannot share it
It is only by receiving the Love of God that we may be able to share it
