Using an oath such as "I swear to God," can be dangerous because it can be viewed as a way to escape oppression as Peter did in the courtyard. Some people use such oaths to convince others that something is true that isn't. As believers we will face ongoing oppression, and when questioned, we need to speak truth. We must acknowledge the truths that Jesus spoke, lest we deny our connection to Christ.
