Psalm 122:1 NKJV
1 I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go into the house of the Lord.”
Giving.
Malachi 3:10 NKJV
10 Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this,” Says the Lord of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it.
“Today’s Text”
Matthew 8:14–15 NKJV
14 Now when Jesus had come into Peter’s house, He saw his wife’s mother lying sick with a fever. 15 So He touched her hand, and the fever left her. And she arose and served them.

Jesus Barrier Braker

Details of the Text:

Jesus crossed purity boundaries when he cleansed the leper.
Jesus crossed ethnic boundaries when He healed the centenarian Soldier’s servant.
Now, He breaks gender boundaries when He crosses the Gender boundaries.
The Brothers Peter and Andrew had moved their home from Bethsaida to Capernaum John 1:44 “44 Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter.”
Peter and Andrew Did leave their nets but that does not mean that the left their wives and responsibilities altogether. although they Did have to leave those responsibilities for long periods of time.
In 1968 an archaeologist Dig showed that Peters home (which in marls gospel is close to a synagogue) showed that peters home is likely to have been a christian church Post earthly ministry Of Christ.

1. He heals a woman with no explanation.

Matthew 8:14 NKJV
14 Now when Jesus had come into Peter’s house, He saw his wife’s mother lying sick with a fever.
Galatians 3:28 NKJV
28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
a key to the ministry of Jesus is the presence of women.
men may have be authority in the home Like the Father God; women like the Holy Spirit have influence.
John 2:4–5 NKJV
4 Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does your concern have to do with Me? My hour has not yet come.” 5 His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it.”
women have great influence,
woman have great powers to heal,
woman have great powers to encourage.
a man may build a house, a man might clean a house. i have heard a woman say there is nothing sexier than a man with a cleaning tool in his hand and using it.
i know personally that men in this church help clean house, cook meals and do dishes laundry ect. there is nothing unmanly about that.

2. Text tells us that she has a fever.

At first glance, you might think as you look at the text with modern eyes and say a fever, this is not a big deal. however several of the people smarter than me think that she may have had maria.
This would have been a considered a fatal disease.
fever so often was present at the death that fever was considered ‘the disease’ and not only a symptom.
the point is that Jesus is Lord even over sickness and can banish illness entirely!
James 5:14–15 NKJV
14 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.

3. She is healed and practices her ministry.

Matthew 8:15 NKJV
15 So He touched her hand, and the fever left her. And she arose and served them.
Romans 12:13 NKJV
13 distributing to the needs of the saints, given to hospitality.
Luke 10:27 NKJV
27 So he answered and said, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,’ and ‘your neighbor as yourself.’ ”
1 Peter 4:9 NKJV
9 Be hospitable to one another without grumbling.
