8 For thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Do not let your prophets and your diviners who are in your midst deceive you, nor listen to your dreams which you cause to be dreamed. 9 For they prophesy falsely to you in My name; I have not sent them, says the Lord.
24 For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. 25 See, I have told you beforehand. 26 “Therefore if they say to you, ‘Look, He is in the desert!’ do not go out; or ‘Look, He is in the inner rooms!’ do not believe it.
6 Now when they had gone through the island to Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew whose name was Bar-Jesus, 7 who was with the proconsul, Sergius Paulus, an intelligent man. This man called for Barnabas and Saul and sought to hear the word of God. 8 But Elymas the sorcerer (for so his name is translated) withstood them, seeking to turn the proconsul away from the faith. 9 Then Saul, who also is called Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, looked intently at him 10 and said, “O full of all deceit and all fraud, you son of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness, will you not cease perverting the straight ways of the Lord? 11 And now, indeed, the hand of the Lord is upon you, and you shall be blind, not seeing the sun for a time.” And immediately a dark mist fell on him, and he went around seeking someone to lead him by the hand. 12 Then the proconsul believed, when he saw what had been done, being astonished at the teaching of the Lord.

Edification 3619 οἰκοδομή [oikodome /oy·kod·om·ay/] n f. Feminine (abstract) of a compound of 3624 and the base of 1430; TDNT 5:144; TDNTA 674; GK 3869; 18 occurrences; AV translates as “edifying” seven times, “building” six times, “edification” four times, and “wherewith (one) may edify” once. 1 (the act of) building, building up. 2 metaph. edifying, edification. 2A the act of one who promotes another’s growth in Christian wisdom, piety, happiness, holiness. 3 a building (i.e. the thing built, edifice). Edification EDIFICATION. A Pauline metaphor meaning spiritual and moral growth among believers (Gk. oikodomḗ “act and result of building”; cf. 2 Cor. 10:8, “building up”; Matt. 7:24, 26 refers to the literal construction of a house). The apostle exhorts mature believers to consider their immature fellows in Christ and to help them “become stronger” (so JB; Rom. 15:2). At 1 Cor. 14 he urges the Corinthian Christians, especially those who had been speaking in tongues (v. 4), to act also for the “benefit” of others and for the “common good” (vv. 17, 26, JB). At 1 Tim. 1:4 the RSV reads “training” (Gk. oikonomía; JB “design”; NIV “work”) rather than “edifying” (KJV; Gk. oikodomía), which is the result of disciplined faith and is nothing like mythic or genealogical “speculations” (so RSV). Exhortation 3874 παράκλησις [paraklesis /par·ak·lay·sis/] n f. From 3870; TDNT 5:773; TDNTA 778; GK 4155; 29 occurrences; AV translates as “consolation” 14 times, “exhortation” eight times, “comfort” six times, and “intreaty” once. 1 a calling near, summons, (esp. for help). 2 importation, supplication, entreaty. 3 exhortation, admonition, encouragement. 4 consolation, comfort, solace; that which affords comfort or refreshment. 4A thus of the Messianic salvation (so the Rabbis call the Messiah the consoler, the comforter). 5 persuasive discourse, stirring address. 5A instructive, admonitory, conciliatory, powerful hortatory discourse. Exhortation EXHORTATION* Translation of a Greek word literally meaning “a calling of someone alongside to help.” Its primary meaning in the NT is the urging of someone to do something—particularly some ethical course of action. In some contexts, the same Greek word may also include the idea of comforting and consoling. The given context will determine which meaning to use.Walter A. if everyone who prophesied spoke as they where moved by the Holy Spirit, then there would not be an issue.

there are two offices that are mentioned. they are prophets and diviners.
Prophets are people who are led of the spirit to speak the things of God.
so, the first office is legitimate.
The second office is not. the second office is diviners.
The Lord prohibits divination. 1 Samuel 15:23
23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, And stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, He also has rejected you from being king.”
Saul was rejected as King in part for the practice of Divination.
when Christians consult the horoscope they are doing the same thing.
often times we don’t want to wait on God, we try to take short cuts.
lets assume for a moment that much of what happens in the Church today is not done just to fleece the people of God. let’s assume for a moment that people have good intention. The only real prophecy that can occur that has any value should come directly from heart of God.

if then satan can appear as an angel of light it seems we know that at the end of days that there will be the antichrist and false prophet.
