Mark 10:43–44 NLT
But among you it will be different. Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first among you must be the slave of everyone else.
Read Mark 10:35-45. The Queen was incredibly gifted. She was gifted a smile that could melt a room. She was gifted the ability to meet people where they were and put them at ease. It is clear that she was a world diplomat. She had wisdom and tact. She nurtured her family, and the nation and the Commonwealth.
Like the Queen, you too have unique gifts, talents and abilities that makes you who you are. The Queen learned that she had been given her gifts in order to serve others. We must learn the same lesson, taking to heart Jesus’s words that we must be the servant of others, slaves of everyone else.
You may be a musician. You may be a cook. You maybe a teacher. You maybe a communicator. You may simply have a winning smile or a way of connecting with people. Whatever gifts God has given you, he has given them to you to make a difference in the world, just as Her Majesty the Queen did.
Many people are finding ways this week to mark the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. Perhaps the best way you and I can commemorate her life is to follow her example, follow her Saviour and use the gifts he has given to serve others and to bring them into his Kingdom.
May Her Majesty the Queen rest in peace and rise in glory! Amen.

THINK IT OVER

Think about the following:
Can you really believe that the gifts God has given you are as important in changing the world as the ones he gave the Queen?
