Matthew 15:21-28, Faith Enables Us to Go Through Fiery Trials.

This was a Canaanite woman who went to Jesus on her own. She was a mother and loved her daughter, who was demon-possessed.

Jesus had left Galilee and went into the Gentile country.

She interceded for her daughter, not for herself. She believed in the power of Jesus. She had spiritual eyes to see what the religious leaders did not see. Jesus was her only hope. Her approach to Jesus took great faith. She recognized Jesus as the Messiah. She called him, Lord. She met opposition. [Matthew 15:22: And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil].

Matthew 11:28: Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Jesus answered her not a word. Faith is very important in our lives. This was to strengthen her faith. We are to be persistent and faithful. Jesus had compassion. The disciples did not. They wanted for Jesus to send her away. His chosen people rejected Him. Do not let people discourage you. Trust in Jesus. Jesus responded to her faith. Our faith gets strengthened when we are waiting for God’s answers. [Matthew 15:23: But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us].

She humbles herself down. She casts herself at His mercy, love, and grace. [Matthew 15:25: Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me].

The woman stayed there in spite of the fiery trials. Jesus healed her daughter. [Matthew 15:28: Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour].

Jesus interceded for her daughter. Jesus intercedes for us. She humbled herself. She had faith in Christ. [I John 2:1: My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous].

We are not going to get away from fiery trials. There is power in prevailing prayer. Jesus is working in us. Through faith in God, we climb step-by-step up the mountain. Faithfulness in our worship brings blessing.
