Romans 5:1-11: We Have Peace With God Through Our Lord Jesus Christ.

If we are unsaved, we are an enemy of God. [Romans 5:6: For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. Romans 5:8: But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:10: For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life].

Justification comes through faith in Jesus Christ. [Ephesians 2:8-9: For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. Romans 10:9-10: That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation]. We cannot do anything to be justified. It is the gift of God and not of works.

How can we get peace? God gives us His righteousness. Justification: Declared righteous, not made righteous. We are treated like we are righteous, but we are still sinners. [Romans 3:28: Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law].

What will peace do for us? [Titus 2:13: Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ. Romans 5:2: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God]. We cannot be sure of heaven until we have the peace of God.

What will the peace of God do for us now? It will give us understanding of the design of God in difficulties.

[Isaiah 26:3: Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee]. Because we have peace with God, we can look forward to eternity. We look forward to seeing our Lord Jesus Christ. Peace with God gives us understanding of life’s tribulations. The peace of God is the most important peace we can have.
