Seasons Change

Genesis 1:14 “Then God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night. They will serve as signs for seasons and for days and years.”
Genesis 8:22 “As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, and day and night will not cease.”
Ps 74:17 “You set all the boundaries of the earth; you made summer and winter.”
Mt 24:32 ““Learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its branch becomes tender and sprouts leaves, you know that summer is near.”
Eccl 3:1-10 “There is an occasion for everything, and a time for every activity under heaven: a time to give birth and a time to die; a time to plant and a time to uproot; a time to kill and a time to heal; a time to tear down and a time to build; a time to weep and a time to laugh; a time to mourn and a time to dance; a time to throw stones and a time to gather stones; a time to embrace and a time to avoid embracing; a time to search and a time to count as lost; a time to keep and a time to throw away; a time to tear and a time to sew; a time to be silent and a time to speak; a time to love and a time to hate; a time for war and a time for peace. What does the worker gain from his struggles? I have seen the task that God has given the children of Adam to keep them occupied.”
Seasons are God’s design and bring order to the world. We as humans need this to prepare and grow.
Everything has a season. God made seasons and they are always going to happen. The earth’s seasons are dictated by the its rotation and the position on its axis. God’s seasons are dictated by revelation and declaration, but somewhat predictable by what we do to create atmospheric conditions
Some predictability, but not totally predictable. Every season has storms and unpredictable events.
People, assignments, positions, and life situations are seasonal. We need to know when it is time to let the season change in our life. Holiday season, football season, allergy season, spawn, rut. Seasonal activities need to be applied. Times and seasons are here to stay. Life is like a bus. People get on and off. Can’t stay tied to a season. Dress, activity, outcome. Sowing, growing, plowing, pruning, reaping. All seasonal.
We have to recognize what season we are in, and prepare for the next season.
Fall is coming What do we need to prepare for?
Letting go. Leaves change and fall off. Forget the things that are behind you press toward the high calling.
Pruning season. Too be more fruitful. Activities, attitudes, relationships, habits all need to be evaluated and dropped or changed.
A time of harvest and thanksgiving. Expectation of things to come.
What is season are we entering?
1 Chronicles 12:32
We need to hear God’s voice and direction. Prayer and sensitivity to the Holy Spirit’s leading in our lives.
Prepare accordingly. Strengthen and enlarge your tent stakes.
Let God give the increase or do the work.
4. Let go of the past and get ready for your future.
Is 54:1-4 ““Rejoice, childless one, who did not give birth; burst into song and shout, you who have not been in labor! For the children of the desolate one will be more than the children of the married woman,” says the Lord. “Enlarge the site of your tent, and let your tent curtains be stretched out; do not hold back; lengthen your ropes, and drive your pegs deep. For you will spread out to the right and to the left, and your descendants will dispossess nations and inhabit the desolate cities. “Do not be afraid, for you will not be put to shame; don’t be humiliated, for you will not be disgraced. For you will forget the shame of your youth, and you will no longer remember the disgrace of your widowhood.”o
Jesus came to erase your shame, forgive your sin, and heal and deliver you from your past. To bring you into a new season. Let go, let the leaves fall off and prepare for new growth in you life.
Seasons Change/Changing Seasons
This is one certainty. If seasons remain, then they will change. How do we navigate changing seasons?
1 Chronicles 12:32 CSB
From the Issacharites, who understood the times and knew what Israel should do: 200 chiefs with all their relatives under their command.
Understand the times
Know what to do
Transitions always bring some turmoil.
Storms, discomfort(out of our normal routine or comfort zone like moving) are always a part of seasonal change. The realities of our lives change during these changes.
1. We must be aware of the changes. Like watching the news and weather. We have to hear for the source. Be alert and aware by hearing God’s voice and knowing what is happening. It is more sure Word of prophecy.
A. Pray always, but pray more during the change. Jesus prayed more when change was taking place. If He did we will surely need to.
B. Stay focused on the Word of God. Jesus always responded with the Word. It is written, it has been said, the scripture says, should always be our answer, not how we feel, or it’s so hard, or I’m so tired of this. Complaining won’t change it. Faith will get you through it. Complaining about how hot it is in Louisiana in the middle of summer is a waste of time, it won’t change anything. Dress cooler, drink more, stay in the shade or indoors to get through the summer.
C. Stay close to the places of safety. Home, church, small group…this is not the time to withdraw and neglect these aspects of our life. Forsake not…
Hebrews 10:24–25 CSB
And let us consider one another in order to provoke love and good works, not neglecting to gather together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging each other, and all the more as you see the day approaching.
2. Be sober and alert at what the enemy wants to do to wreck you during this time. Temptation is always at its peak when seasons change and there is turmoil. Even Jesus was tempted (Luke 4) when things were changing for Him and His ministry.
1 Peter 5:8–9 CSB
Be sober-minded, be alert. Your adversary the devil is prowling around like a roaring lion, looking for anyone he can devour. Resist him, firm in the faith, knowing that the same kind of sufferings are being experienced by your fellow believers throughout the world.
3. Rely on the power of the Spirit to guide you and empower you for the season. Jesus returned in the Power of the Spirit.
Seed Time and Harvest
Perpetual sowing…Understanding the Kingdom of God
Galatians 6:6–10 CSB
Let the one who is taught the word share all his good things with the teacher. Don’t be deceived: God is not mocked. For whatever a person sows he will also reap, because the one who sows to his flesh will reap destruction from the flesh, but the one who sows to the Spirit will reap eternal life from the Spirit. Let us not get tired of doing good, for we will reap at the proper time if we don’t give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us work for the good of all, especially for those who belong to the household of faith.
What we sow is what we grow
If ya ain’t sowing it you ain’t growing it.
Good seed or bad seed. What you sow is what you reap!
Where you sow
When you sow
How we sow.
Issac sowed in a time of famine and reap 100 fold in the same year.
Genesis 26:12–14 CSB
Isaac sowed seed in that land, and in that year he reaped a hundred times what was sown. The Lord blessed him, and the man became rich and kept getting richer until he was very wealthy. He had flocks of sheep, herds of cattle, and many slaves, and the Philistines were envious of him.
Your seed will affect your season and set up your future with the blessing of God.
Cast your bread upon the water.
Ecclesiastes 11:1–6 CSB
Send your bread on the surface of the water, for after many days you may find it. Give a portion to seven or even to eight, for you don’t know what disaster may happen on earth. If the clouds are full, they will pour out rain on the earth; whether a tree falls to the south or the north, the place where the tree falls, there it will lie. One who watches the wind will not sow, and the one who looks at the clouds will not reap. Just as you don’t know the path of the wind, or how bones develop in the womb of a pregnant woman, so also you don’t know the work of God who makes everything. In the morning sow your seed, and at evening do not let your hand rest, because you don’t know which will succeed, whether one or the other, or if both of them will be equally good.
Many we aren’t having a harvest because we don’t sow seed. .
We can’t watch the wind and clouds, we need to sow. It affects this season and the next
Time, talent, treasure…sharing with others.
Jesus said be faithful in what is someone else's, and I will see too it you will be faithfully done.
1. If you want your season to change, change your seed and sowing practices.
2. Don’t get weary in doing good. The harvest is coming.
You will reap. One way or another.
3. Start today!
