Mark shows us a transition from the old
There is a new kingdom, a new king, new rules, new peace
A New Joy
The kingdom of Christ is compared to a wedding feast
There is rejoicing and celebration
Noone goes to a wedding to fast but feast
There is an undoing of the past ways
The disciples of Jesus are not like those of John and the Pharisees
The waiting is over
The old cloth and bottle have served their purpose
Now the new is finally here
A New Lord
Jesus claims the right of King David
The king is above all else
The pharisees were following made up laws not found in the book of Moses
Jesus understood the law of Moses and knew the law was for man not man for the law
The king’s job is to take care of the people
The Priest knew David was better alive than starved to death because of the law
Jesus claims himself as Lord of the Sabbath
once again there is a removal of the old and an establishing of the new
The law was ultimately pointing to him
Galatians 3:19-24
the promise was Christ
2 Corinthians 3:6-18
the vail is done away in Christ
