Seeing Him
On our recent trip we had a chance to experience the ascent up from the lower Jordan and travel up to the city of Jerusalem
We must remember that the book of Psalms is more than just a book of poetry
It is the expression of the events of life as experienced by the writer
In this case, the journey from the bottom of the mountain up to Jerusalem was not an easy one!
In the opening verse the Hebrew word here for “lift up” is the word meaning to be carried or lifted up.
The journey is through barren and difficult terrain fraught with dangers and the heat of the sun!
The writer is seeking for encouragement and help to sustain his efforts to reach the presence of God at the temple!
When the journey is getting difficult he is asking himself, “from where will my help come?”
We all experience those moments in our lives when we are asking “from where will my help come?”
The perfect example of this is when Jesus was in the garden
Faced with the reality of the events about to take place, He looks to the heavens and cries out<
There are those moments in life that scream failure but if we look to the heavens we will find our help!
Look at what David realizes as he shifts his focus upward
When the Word of God becomes our foundation then we can rest in middle of the storms
Look at what the Word tell us,
Jesus told the disciples
I love verse 3 of the Psalm
What a great promise!
During the most difficult times of our life He will be faithful!
The issue is that we must believe, trust and obey and release our lives to Him!
The journey from the Jordan up to Jerusalem is through a dry and arid land.
The sun can just suck the moisture right out of you!
Just as walking through this life, the world around us can suck the life right out of us but look at the promise in verse 5-8
tT should remind us that life is not easy but He is faithful
Just as David cried out
When we are in that place we must cry out for the living water Jesus promised
The promise of God to every believer is that He will
Let me ask you today, from where does your help come?
Are you looking to the heavens or are you looking to man?
Yes the journey of life is real
It is filled with valleys and deserts that must be traveled!
Why not invest in an insurance policy that will not fail…His Word!
