Acts 16:29–34 (CSB)
29 The jailer called for lights, rushed in, and fell down trembling before Paul and Silas. 30 He escorted them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” 31 They said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.” 32 And they spoke the word of the Lord to him along with everyone in his house. 33 He took them the same hour of the night and washed their wounds. Right away he and all his family were baptized. 34 He brought them into his house, set a meal before them, and rejoiced because he had come to believe in God with his entire household.

What Must I Do to Be Saved?
The language is Once and for ALL. What must I do to free from harm, evil, and imprisonment?
Romans 3:10 CSB
10 as it is written: There is no one righteous, not even one.
Romans 3:23 CSB
23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God;
Romans 5:8 CSB
8 But God proves his own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 6:23 CSB
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 10:9–10 CSB
9 If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 One believes with the heart, resulting in righteousness, and one confesses with the mouth, resulting in salvation.

2. Sit in the lap of Jesus

Believe means to place my full confidence in Jesus Christ who is the the conte
John 3:16 CSB
16 For God loved the world in this way: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.

3. Walk in Obedience of Baptism

This is the SCRIPTURAL basis for water baptism. It PICTURES and PROCLAIMS four important things:
Scriptural baptism PICTURES and PROCLAIMS the believer's death, burial, and resurrection with Christ.
Colossians 2:12
Colossians 2:12 CSB
12 when you were buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead.
Scriptural baptism PICTURES and PROCLAIMS the death of our old life to sin, and our resurrection to walk in newness of life.
Romans 6:4
Romans 6:4 CSB
4 Therefore we were buried with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we too may walk in newness of life.
Scriptural baptism PICTURES and PROCLAIMS our faith in the Trinity of the Godhead.
Matthew 28:19
Matthew 28:19 CSB
19 Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
Scriptural baptism PICTURES and PROCLAIMS our "putting on" of Christ. Galatians 3:26,27
Galatians 3:26 CSB
26 for through faith you are all sons of God in Christ Jesus.
Galatians 3:27 CSB
27 For those of you who were baptized into Christ have been clothed with Christ.
So then, water baptism is a picture of what transpired when you placed your faith and trust in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ to save you from your sins. Romans 6:3-5
Romans 6:3–5 CSB
3 Or are you unaware that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 Therefore we were buried with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we too may walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have been united with him in the likeness of his death, we will certainly also be in the likeness of his resurrection.
It does not atone for sin. Only the blood of Christ cleanses us from sin
(I John 1:7; Colossians 1:14).
1 John 1:7 CSB
7 If we walk in the light as he himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.
Colossians 1:14 CSB
14 In him we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

WHO SHOULD BE BAPTIZED?

Next, let's consider WHO should be baptized. The Bible makes it clear that scriptural baptism is BELIEVER'S baptism.
In Acts 2:41 we observe that they received the word, THEN they were baptized.
In Acts 8:12,36,37 we find that they believed, THEN they were baptized.
In Acts 10:43,44,47, it is plain to see that those who believed received the Holy Spirit, and THEN they were baptized. (Lost people do not receive the Holy Spirit.)
When the Philippian jailer asked, "What must I do to be saved?" they said, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved...." (Acts 16:30-34). Paul did not tell him to be baptized to be saved. His baptism came AFTER his believing, which sets the scriptural standard.
Who then should be baptized? According to the established Bible pattern, only those who have trusted the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Savior.
Water baptism then, is NOT salvation, but obedience to a command by God concerning discipleship.
WHEN is the believer to be baptized?
The Bible teaches that water baptism follows shortly after salvation.
Notice the example of Paul (Acts 9:18), Cornelius (Acts 10:43-48), and the Philippian Jailer (Acts 16:33).
Acts 16:33 CSB
33 He took them the same hour of the night and washed their wounds. Right away he and all his family were baptized.
Acts 10:43–48 CSB
43 All the prophets testify about him that through his name everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins.” 44 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit came down on all those who heard the message. 45 The circumcised believers who had come with Peter were amazed because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on the Gentiles. 46 For they heard them speaking in tongues and declaring the greatness of God. Then Peter responded, 47 “Can anyone withhold water and prevent these people from being baptized, who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?” 48 He commanded them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to stay for a few days.
Acts 9:18 CSB
18 At once something like scales fell from his eyes, and he regained his sight. Then he got up and was baptized.
