Exodus 24:9–11 NLT
Then Moses, Aaron, Nadab, Abihu, and the seventy elders of Israel climbed up the mountain. There they saw the God of Israel. Under his feet there seemed to be a surface of brilliant blue lapis lazuli, as clear as the sky itself. And though these nobles of Israel gazed upon God, he did not destroy them. In fact, they ate a covenant meal, eating and drinking in his presence!
For them, the table was much more than a place to eat.
It was a place of mutual trust and vulnerability.
Sitting down at the table to eat with someone meant you had a protected relationship with them.
Whom you ate with revealed something important about who you were, showing to whom you belonged. Just as the word “house” could mean your family lineage or the word “bed” could mean your intimate relationship, the word “table” could stand for family and friends—all those you trusted and on whom you depended. These were the people with whom you enjoyed table fellowship.
In fact, table fellowship implied a nearly inviolable relationship. To be a guest at a family’s table meant that you were under their protection. As long as you were with the family, they were honour bound to defend you, even at the cost of their lives.
1 Corinthians 11:23–26 NKJV
For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread; and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes.

At the Table, we remember Jesus.

1. His sufferings- 1 Cor. 11:24
1 Corinthians 11:24 NKJV
and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.”
2. His death on the cross- 1 Cor. 11:25
1 Corinthians 11:25 NKJV
In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.”
3. His purpose- Matt. 26:28
Matthew 26:28 NKJV
For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

At the Table, we celebrate our Redemption!

Acceptance at our Repentance John 6:35-37
John 6:35–37 TPT
Jesus said to them, “I am the Bread of Life. Come every day to me and you will never be hungry. Believe in me and you will never be thirsty. Yet I’ve told you that even though you’ve seen me, you still don’t believe in me. But everyone my Father has given to me, they will come. And all who come to me, I will embrace and will never turn them away.

At the Table, we connect to our vertical and horizontal relationship.

Connect to the Goodness of God. Psalm 34.8
Psalm 34:8 NKJV
Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!
b. Connect to our Christian Family. 1 Cor. 10:17
1 Corinthians 10:17 NKJV
For we, though many, are one bread and one body; for we all partake of that one bread.

At the Table, we anticipate His Return!

His Kingdom- Luke 22:18
Luke 22:18 NKJV
for I say to you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.”
2. His death until He comes! 1 Cor. 11:26
1 Corinthians 11:26 NKJV
