Text: Mark 8:22-26

Intro: The only progressive miracle recorded in the bible.  Jesus healed 7 blind men in the bible.

Miracles often involves the concern of others (v22) “they bring a blind man unto him, and besought him to touch him.”

    • Reminded of the story of the palsied man in Mark 2 – Lowered through the roof
    • Mark 6:53-56 “And when they had passed over, they came into the land of Gennesaret, and drew to the shore. 54 And when they were come out of the ship, straightway they knew him 55 And ran through that whole region round about, and began to carry about in beds those that were sick, where they heard he was. 56 And whithersoever he entered, into villages, or cities, or country, they laid the sick in the streets, and besought him that they might touch if it were but the border of his garment: and as many as touched him were made whole”
    1. The faith of those that brought him – Your Faith Can Cause Healing
    2. Bring them to Jesus

Guidance is transferred from friends to Jesus (v 23) “And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town;”

    • Man can’t take the credit
    • Jesus paid for the healing
    • Note: Isaiah 53:5 “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed”.

Accept the method – Not our way but His (v23) “and when he had spit on his eyes,”

Stay with Jesus until the healing is complete

  • Jesus touched – Asked – touched Again
  • Touch me Again!!!!!!

He took him out of the town – Then warned him not to go into the town or speak in the town

  • Unbelief can get in the way
  • Note: Matt. 11:21-24 Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. 22 But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you. 23 And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. 24 But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee.
