The Filling of the Saints (1-13)

They were in one accord seeking the Lord in obedience.
The Day of Pentecost (Festival of Weeks and day of the Firstfruits).
It was a day of filling - the OT Festival was fulfilled in the firstfruits of a Gospel Harvest!
The room was filled with the Holy Spirit’s presence. His people were filled to overflowing.
What was the message that they declared? The Mighty Works of God!
It was a rolling back of the tower of Babel where the nations were scattered in their attempt to unify over man’s might. Instead, the nations are being gathered to hear the
It started with the Jews who had been scattered over the whole earth.
When you are filled with the Holy Spirit you will overflow in two ways: worship and witness
Eph 5:18-20 “18 And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit, 19 addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart, 20 giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,”

The Fulfillment of Scripture (14-36)

The Prophecy of the Holy Spirit’s Pouring (14-22) - from Joel 2:28-32.
The disciples’ testifying in the language of each person there was a direct fulfillment.
Peter reminded the men of Israel that they had also been witnesses of the mighty works and signs and wonders that God had done to display that Jesus is the Christ.
This is the same Peter that just weeks before was hiding and denying Jesus, now He is publically proclaiming.
The Prophecy of Christ’s Resurrection (23-32)
People say it is impossible for the dead to live again. God says it is impossible for the Lord of life to be held by chains of death!
The prophecy from Psalm 16:8-11.
Only Jesus could fulfill it.
The Prophecy of Christ’s Sovereignty (33-36)
Jesus is coming again to rule over all that belongs to Him! He is Lord! He is Messiah!

The Faith that Saves Sinners (37-41)

Proclamation - Rom 10:14-17 “How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!” But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed what he has heard from us?” So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.”
For people to be saved they must first hear the Gospel.
Conviction - they were pricked in their hearts. The work of the Holy Spirit. They recognized their own responsibility in the crucifixion and death of the Lord Jesus Christ. “What must we do to be saved?”
Salvation - Repentance and faith. Baptism is a public affirmation of inner faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
