If there is one thing that we know for sure it is this, God is good! We like to say that He is good all the time and all the time He is good. But what does that mean. The Hebrew word for good is tobe (tob) which means,
to be good, be pleasing, be joyful, be beneficial, be pleasant, be favourable, be happy, be right
(Qal)
to be delightful
to be glad
to be better
to be well with, be good for
to be pleasing
(Hiphil) to do well, do good, act right, act rightly
God is Good!
The Living Bible, Paraphrased Chapter 136
Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his loving-kindness continues forever.
God is Not Only Good When We Do Right!
God is Not Only Good When We Do Right!
God is good and kind and full of mercy forever. Now if this was only for when we are doing everything right, there would be no need for mercy. We don’t need mercy or His loving kindness when we do everything right. We need that everlasting loving kindness when we blow it. That’s when it’s comforting to know that God is always good!
25 The Lord is wonderfully good to those who wait for him, to those who seek for him.

Those two words in this verse that are key are wait and seek. Wait, to look eagerly with expectation for the time He will show up. And seek, means we are consistently looking for Him. When we are waiting in anticipation to spend time with God, this verse says He is wonderfully good yo us. Wow not just good, but wonderfully good.
7 The Lord is good,
A stronghold in the day of trouble;
And He knows those who trust in Him.
God is Our Safe Haven!
God is Our Safe Haven!
When we trust in the Lord with all of our heart and not lean on our own understanding, He becomes our stronghold. He hides us in times of trouble because we trust Him. Face it, who else can we trust? No one else can keep us safe from the spiritual attacks we face. No one that is but God!
8 Open your mouth and taste, open your eyes and see—
how good God is.
Blessed are you who run to him.

We live in a society where everyone wants to “taste” the good life. A life where there are no financial burdens, no sickness, and great authentic relationships. The problem is, that only exists in Hollywood! It’s fantasy. But the Lord has a great life for us. Now granted it is not trouble free. In fact there are many challenges. But if we want a taste of the good life, it comes from tasting and seeing that the Lord is Good! Taste the life that is surrendered to His will and you and I will definitely be tasting the Good Life because God is Good!
4 Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?
