Introduction:
Last week we ended with writing and making it plain.
the reason we talked about writing the vision and making it plain is because there is a difference between being busy and being productive.
a person can be busy without being productive.
a written vision helps me to stay focused.
Today we are going to talk about the “B” clause of the verse.
“Plant gardens and eat of their fruit.”
1. Building a life, (build houses).
takes time.
it takes time to build a life.
there is nothing wrong with staying at the 80 long enough to be able to save money, and prepare ourselves for the next level.
As we take our time and build we will have what we need.
it takes time to have what we feel like we want out of life.
I have to realize to get where I’m trying to go I’m going to do the opposite of what I did in my old life.
My old life was instant gratification.
Part of my maturity process is learning to think long term.
2. We have to learn to be financially responsible.
when we pay our bills and deal with the wreckage of our past we set ourselves up for the future.
first of all its the right thing to do.
second it helps us to see the decisions we make under stress.
Helping us see the kind of decisions we make under pressure helps us to be careful with our resources because it has to do with vision.
3. We are going to need to go to work.
The Lord wants to work with us.
It has been the same since the beginning.
God brought all the animals to Adam to see what he would call them.
This verse has always intrigued me. the primary reason is the fact that God did not need Adam to name them, God wanted to work with Adam.
I see no evidence that God’s desire to work with us has changed.
He still wants to work with us.
He wants to work with us in out work.
we are called by scripture to provide for ourselves and our families.
when we are not on task.
We slip into character defects:
The Apostle Paul calls not working disorderly.
next he talks about ‘busy bodies,’ this is gossip.
the cure is work in quietness and eat your own.
Since we are called to work, I want to be as clear as I can about this; the Lord would never call you to a task without providing you with gifts and talents to do the thing that He called you to do.
Finally, we are called to do the things that we do in an attitude of excellence.
