Review

Jesus entered into Jerusalem, with a humbled welcome. Hosanna!! “Give Salvation now!”
The Jews wanted Him dead.
the Greeks came to see Jesus

v.27-28

John 12:27–28 NASB95
27 “Now My soul has become troubled; and what shall I say, ‘Father, save Me from this hour’? But for this purpose I came to this hour. 28 “Father, glorify Your name.” Then a voice came out of heaven: “I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.”
Jesus is troubled.….but why????
some would say that because Jesus was close to His time of death which cause Him being troubled.
some think that He was troubled because of the pain that he is going to feel up to the cross.
But I don't think that Jesus was worried about those things. He knew about the pain that was coming.
I believe that Jesus was troubled because of the wrath of God that was coming. The agony and pain and speration that Jesus will feel is trouble to Him. the feeling of guilt and the feeling of God’s wrath.
V. 28
But Jesus would not not back out.
This was the reason why He came.
And God spoke.
Jesus was glorified by God, with His earthly ministry . And He will glorified Jesus again….in His death and resurrection.

v. 29-30

John 12:29–30 NASB95
29 So the crowd of people who stood by and heard it were saying that it had thundered; others were saying, “An angel has spoken to Him.” 30 Jesus answered and said, “This voice has not come for My sake, but for your sakes.
The people hear God speak,
Jesus is saying that this is all for them. Not for Him
we can say that this conversation between God the Father and God the Son was conformation, Of Jesus’s mission
Jesus WILL have His victory
even in His trouble, He will still have His victory.

v. 31-33

John 12:31–33 NASB95
31 “Now judgment is upon this world; now the ruler of this world will be cast out. 32 “And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to Myself.” 33 But He was saying this to indicate the kind of death by which He was to die.
Jesus is talking to the Jews, this is the last attempt to talk to the Jews about who He is.
Judgement is on the word.
When Jesus talks that the ruler of this world will be cast out (what does that mean?) Satan is about to be defeated.
Jesus said Him being lifted up. is His crucifixion.

But!!!!!!!!!!!

v.34-36

John 12:34–36 NASB95
34 The crowd then answered Him, “We have heard out of the Law that the Christ is to remain forever; and how can You say, ‘The Son of Man must be lifted up’? Who is this Son of Man?” 35 So Jesus said to them, “For a little while longer the Light is among you. Walk while you have the Light, so that darkness will not overtake you; he who walks in the darkness does not know where he goes. 36 “While you have the Light, believe in the Light, so that you may become sons of Light.” These things Jesus spoke, and He went away and hid Himself from them.
The people did not understand.
remember that the Jews thought that the Messiah is suppose to be this political hero, so If Jesus is the Messiah, why would he be crucified and die?
so if He is suppose to die, who is the Son of Man

v. 35-36

Jesus gives a final attempt to the Jews too believe in Him.
This is a plea.
He is asking the Jews to come to Him while He us there. He is asking them to come to salvation
after this, Jesus hid Himself
They do not beleve .
The offer was given, they rejected. Jesus hid Himself.
Remember John 2

v.37-38

John 12:37–38 NASB95
37 But though He had performed so many signs before them, yet they were not believing in Him. 38 This was to fulfill the word of Isaiah the prophet which he spoke: “Lord, who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?”
Jesus did all that He could, He did great things.
But they did not believe

v.39-40

John 12:39–40 NASB95
39 For this reason they could not believe, for Isaiah said again, 40He has blinded their eyes and He hardened their heart, so that they would not see with their eyes and perceive with their heart, and be converted and I heal them.”
They did not believe, so they could not believe.
They will not believe, so they wont believe.
STORY ON THE SOVEREIGNTY OF GOD AND FREE WILL.
