Content in our Position

1 Corinthians 7:17–19 (NIV)
Nevertheless, each person should live as a believer in whatever situation the Lord has assigned to them, just as God has called them. This is the rule I lay down in all the churches. Was a man already circumcised when he was called? He should not become uncircumcised. Was a man uncircumcised when he was called? He should not be circumcised. Circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing. Keeping God’s commands is what counts.
God is sufficient for all people of all walks of life. we are drawn to the Christian gospel because we desire and long for a new life, a release from our present bondage and into a new life of peace and ease. But the Christian gospel is not rooted in the aim to start all things anew, but rather the Christian gospel is aimed at making the old life new and redeeming to its original glory that which had been lost.
God takes us in our brokenness and restores us to our true identity as He has always defined it. Our position is not what brings value, but rather it is the depth of dependance and surrender in our relationship with God that matters.

Content in our Situation

1 Corinthians 7:20–24 (NIV)
Each person should remain in the situation they were in when God called them.
Were you a slave when you were called? Don’t let it trouble you—although if you can gain your freedom, do so. For the one who was a slave when called to faith in the Lord is the Lord’s freed person; similarly, the one who was free when called is Christ’s slave. You were bought at a price; do not become slaves of human beings. Brothers and sisters, each person, as responsible to God, should remain in the situation they were in when God called them.
God is sufficient in all seasons and situations. The more that we live out the gospel of dependance, the greater the testimony of the Lord’s sufficiency to meet us in our brokenness and turn life around.
We live in a reality that seeks to define itself apart from the creator. But we who are in Christ are not defined by our situation nor our success, but rather we are defined by the One who we are in relationship with.
God desires to be glorified and work good from all our circumstances. Will we trust Him with our situations and circumstances.
