Intro

Life is, in some ways, very much about people groups. There are groups we are born into: ethnicity, culture, language, family. And groups we navigate in and out of throughout our lives: employment, leagues, membership, friendships, etcetera.
I wonder how many groups we each belong to!...
Some groups are loose associations, while others define our very existence. One important area of wisdom in life is understanding what group is which.
Today, we continue in Mark as we see Jesus’ interactions with various groups. All of which He shared at least some in common. How they interact with Jesus will tell us much about our relationship with God.

What we value most, motivates us the most. We can’t treasure sin, and walk with God. We can’t treasure our pride and submit to God. We can’t love the world, and serve God. We can’t live a double life, it won’t fool God!

He calls us all differently and to different things.
11 And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, 12 to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, 13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ,
Do you know what He has called you to? If not, seek it out. God has mad you for a purpose, and intend for you to follow that call. Further in Ephesians 4, he says:
14 so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. 15 Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, 16 from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.

24 Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. 25 For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. 26 For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?

12 “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.
