We all have 168 hours a week.

Time is the one thing we all have the same amount of. Yes, some will live longer than others.

What is your theme in life?

Baseball players typically walk up to the plate with a “theme song”. In fact many theme songs outlive their respective uses to become as popular if not more so than the show, player, or movie it comes from.

Psalm 119 has the Torah as the theme song.

As we have been walking through this Psalm we have noticed this truth, or at least I hope you have. The law of God is a delight to our writer. He is consumed by the law of God.

The law reveals God’s heart and character.

There is no conception of legalism within this Psalm, or at least that I have found yet.

We read Scripture to know God.

This may sound “duh” and obvious but I wonder sometimes that we forget this and seek Scripture to just gain knowledge or we come close to making it an idol.

In Scripture there is true freedom.

Not freedom to do whatever we want. Not freedom to believe whatever we want. Not freedom to be whoever we want. But true freedom that allows us to serve one another and love one another. Verse 45-48

We must learn to repent of our ways.

This is one of those “negative side effects of Scripture”. The more we read our Bibles the more we realize who Christ is and how much we sin. The longer I am in ministry the more I believe, personally, the hallmark trait of Christian maturity is not just holiness but grace.

Bad times can be redeemed.

In verse 71 and others throughout this section we realize that if bad times, affliction, pain, obstacles push us to Jesus and His Word we are better off. Crisis reveals character and then reinforces it.

We need wisdom.

In verse 66 we see that instruction or teaching is not enough; we need wisdom in how to live out the teaching.
