Introduction
We need God alone.
The longer I preach, the less I have to say.
We need God alone.
For far too long we’ve filled our churches, services, and conferences with:
Religion
Tradition
Popularity contests
Networking ideas
5 ways to improve your life
In the process we’ve forgotten the God we do these things in the name of.
We’ve turned God into an idea and robbed him of the reality of his existence.
As a result, we have robbed ourselves from true connection with God.
“We prophesied in your name… Depart from me for I never knew you.”
We need God for real.
Not the God we’ve made in our image, but the God of Abraham, the God of Issac, and the God of Jacob.
The Bible tells us to “Taste and see that the Lord is good.”
The Bible tells us to “Draw near to God and he will draw near to you.”
But we’ve grown so complacent with going on with our lives and spinning our wheels that we have no idea who God is, what God feels, or who God says we are in Him.
We’ve become tape recorders that know know all the right things to say but lack any true knowledge of God.
We simply repeat what we’ve heard or been told by our friends, our parents, our pastor.
Parrots can do that.
Buddhists can do that.
Muslims can do that.
We Need the Knowledge of God
We need to the knowledge of God.
We need fresh manna from Heaven.
I believe that God is weaning this generation off of living their life through a man or a woman in a pulpit.
This generation wants revelation.
Revelation = Christ revealed, made real in your lives.
This generation wants to know God for who he really is, who he says he is, and not the image we’ve made in our head.
I believe he is freeing this generation from:
Coming once a week
Throwing money in a bucket
And hearing what the man of God has gone up the mountain to hear from the Lord.
God is breaking that mindset.
He’s breaking idolatry in the church.
He’s ripping the feeding tubes out of our lives.
We’ve been on the IV long enough.
We’ve heard it from someone else long enough.
It’s time to get off of life support and eat fresh manna today.
Manna From Heaven
“Man shall not live on bread alone but on every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.”
This generation needs to consume the word.
This generation needs to fellowship with the Holy Spirit.
Then the words of your pastor become logs on the fire instead of a candle passed from pulpit to pew.
This generation needs a wakeup call.
We’ve lived so long in this way, been so dulled, so bored, so jaded, so lifeless, that we have no idea what connection with God is like
That’s why I’m here today to declare that we need to get off the ventilator, awaken from our spiritual sleep, and come to the Table of God.
Psalms says “Enlighten my eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death.”
We were created to see God, to touch God, and to experience God.
I want to touch God!
The days of nice meetings and services are over.
I’m so sick of shallow christianity and living on the fringes.
I want to touch God.
God’s not boring, your boring!
If you think Genesis 1 is boring, you need revival!
In the beginning God...
Well if He is there in the beginning, when was God’s beginning
He will stun you more than Hollywood
He will blow your mind more than a video game
He will leave you awestruck
He’s the Alpha and Omega.
The Beginning and End.
Isaiah 44 declares:
I am the first and the last
Besides me, there is no God.
Bring up your idols
They’re useless
They shall not profit
They don’t see or hear
He keeps punching them down.
To who then will you liken me?
To who then will you compare me?
I am unlike your idols
I am alive
I am everlasting
I’m the God of Abraham, Issac, and Jacob.
I’m the Holy One of Israel.
I’m the Mighty One of Jacob.
I’m holy!
I’m unlike any other
I’m awesome
I’m the portion of Jacob
I’m fearful and glorious in praise.
Conclusion
We ned the One True God tonight.
We need him to come, to move in our lives.
We need his power.
We need the holy spirit.
We need to be gripped with power and love that passes knowledge
Ask and you will receive, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened.
Isaiah 44:3-4 “3 For I will pour out water to quench your thirst and to irrigate your parched fields.
And I will pour out my Spirit on your descendants, and my blessing on your children. 4 They will thrive like watered grass, like willows on a riverbank.”
