Call to Worship:
1 Chronicles 16:8–10 NKJV
8 Oh, give thanks to the Lord! Call upon His name; Make known His deeds among the peoples! 9 Sing to Him, sing psalms to Him; Talk of all His wondrous works! 10 Glory in His holy name; Let the hearts of those rejoice who seek the Lord!
Giving:
1 Chronicles 29:14 NKJV
14 But who am I, and who are my people, That we should be able to offer so willingly as this? For all things come from You, And of Your own we have given You.
Today’s Passage:
Matthew 6:24–34 NKJV
24 “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon. 25 “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? 27 Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? 28 “So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; 29 and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31 “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

1. This whole passage boils down to who (or what) will you serve.

Matthew 6:24 NKJV
24 “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.
1398 δουλεύω [douleuo /dool·yoo·o/] v. Last week we talked about what you allow in your in life through the eye is going to effect your spiritual health.
we turn again to a common theme in the gospel of not getting caught up in the desires of this world and the call of heaven.
Jesus tells us again, you cannot serve two masters:
you will love one.
you will hate the others.
let me be clear you will love the things the world has to offer and intern hate the things of God.

2. What is your life pursuit ?

Matthew 6:25–27 NKJV
25 “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? 27 Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?
Do not worry about your life.
don’t worry about your body:
what you will eat.
what you will drink
Nor your body:
What you will put on.
Than Jesus ask a question “is not life more than food and the body more than clothing ?
here Jesus asks a confronting question, he is asking what is your life really about?
if we spend our whole life on pursuit of just maintaining the basics of life we will miss the whole purpose of life with God.

3. if The Father is your Lord He will take care of you.

Matthew 6:28–34 NKJV
Matthew 6:28–30 NKJV
28 “So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; 29 and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
The Lord ‘the tailor’.
God knows how to take care of you.
Matthew 6:31 NKJV
31 “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’

4. Do not worry, Rather seek the Kingdom.

Matthew 6:32–34 NKJV
32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
