2 Corinthians 5:17-21

Seperated from God (17)

There was enmity between us and God

Col 1:20-21 we were enemies of God

Eph 2:16 destroyed our enmity on the cross

God had to remove this so that we could come together in friendship

He made all things new within us

All the old things are passed away

All things are of God

This was his plan and his work

Before we loved him he first loved us (Rom 5:8)

He was patient toward the sinfulness of man

not imputing their trespasses

winking at their sins, forgiving and waiting

Gave the word of reconciliation

Provided the Word of God through the His eternal Spirit to bring life to sinners

God has revealled himself to man in an understandable way

Rejection of this revelation is man’s greatest sin (Rom 1)

Now that we are in Christ we are ambassadors for Christ

Christ has gone to glory with the Father and we are in his stead

We call people to be reconciled with God

The cost has already been paid

God did the work for all man (1 John 2:2)

Christ was alienated from God so that those who are alienated can be brought into relationship
