Hebrews: “The Angels Worship the Son of God”

Hebrews 1:4-14

The gospel ultimately boils down to three questions:

• Who is Jesus Christ?

• What has he done?

• What is the significance for us?

I. His name makes Him superior. (vs 4-6)

1. Angels are not sons of God.

Psalm 2:8; John 1:14; Romans 1:4

2. Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

2 Samuel 7:14; Hebrews 4:15

3. Jesus Christ is worshipped by angels.

Matthew 16:27; Philippians 2:9-11

II. His throne makes Him superior. (vs 7-9)

1. Jesus Christ as God the Son sits on His throne.

Psalm 45:6; I Peter 3:22

2. Jesus Christ has been anointed with the oil of gladness.

Psalm 45:7; Romans 5:1

III. His creativity makes Him superior. (vs 10-14)

1. Jesus Christ is the Creator of earth and heaven.

Psalm 102:25-27; 2 Peter 3:10-13; Colossians 1:16

2. Jesus Christ is the exalted and sovereign Lord.

Psalm 110:1; Romans 14:9
