Ecclesiastes 4

What are the oppressors?
injustice of life. unfairness of life.
Examples: government, work, money, people, etc.
Oppression can beak and isolate us. Some oppressors we can avoid while others we cannot.
What have you given power over you?
How is that power going to be conquered?
Verse 2-3
We see the dead as RIP.
I think at times we have all thought why did i even have to be born
But as we go on we see it is such a blessing to get to live and be a part of God’s master plan. What joy it will be in eternity, and the afflictions hear will seem just like a blink of the eye.
Verse 4
Working to be like everybody else
We look at what everyone else has and let that set the standard for our lives.
We got to have the clothes, car, house, technology, pool, talents etc. that so and so has.
it is always a pursuit of if I have this I will be happy, but it is a vain pursuit. You will always be left striving for more if this is what drives your life.
your chasing after wind- never can catch it. You looking like rocky trying to catch flying bugs.
Verse 5-6

4:5–6 Two apparently contradictory proverbs are inserted in juxtaposition. The first (v. 5) is a traditional wisdom saying—the fool consumes himself by laziness. That is, laziness is sure to bring poverty. The second (v. 6) states that it is better to have a few things (one handful) and yet be satisfied and happy than to have many things (two handfuls) and yet be consumed with work and worries. The Teacher steers away from both idleness and slavery to work.

Laziness is not a godly characteristic. Laziness is bad for physical and spiritual health.
if you are lazy you will run yourself to destruction
Also realize you do not have to have a lot of things to be happy. Learn to be satisfied with a little. Live a peaceful life, not a life enslaved to work.
So in the end in life find a balance between work and idleness. Don’t idolize either. Learn to balance them to glorify God
V. 7 “Never satisfied with riches”
Money will never leave you feeling whole, it may buy you temporary relief, but it will always leave quickly
Verse 9
it is more rewarding to work together than against. We should strive to walk in unity. We should ask how can I work better with my church, friend, family, coworkers etc.
Verse 10
When one another falls we need to be there to pick up the slack and help lift one another up
Verse 12
Why a three fold cord?
Verse 13
Money can’t fix stupid
Never let you position or money go to your head.
You are never to powerful to fall. you never have the right to be a jerk.
None of us never truly know it all or always know the best way. have a humble heart that is willing to listen.

Ecclesiastes 5

Do not take going to church lightly, do not take your relations with other believers lightly. Reflect on yourself and behavior. Spend time in repentance before gathering.
Dedicate time to listening to God deeply, don’t think you have heard all you need from God. Seek him with your all.
Verse 2
Spend more time listening than talking
Don’t let your mouth get away from you
Take time to reflect and think
Verse 4-5
When you go to God commit to do something, only do it if you know you mean to fully follow through with it.
Don’t call yourself a Christian if you are not truly a Christian. Don’t call yourself a “little Christ” if you don't intend to live like one.
Verse 6
Our mouth has much power to do great good and great harm
How does your mouth glorify God? How does it disgrace God?
Verse 7
What does it mean to fear God?
Verse 8
bad government leaders don’t surprise God
The ones who abuse the power God gave them will have to answer for their wrong doings.
verse 9
a good leader cultivates that which was put in his responsibility
Verse 10
no amount of wealth will leave you satisfied, but leave you wanting more.
Celebrities commit suicide all the time, and chase after weird religious belies, and get alcohol and drug addictions trying to find peace
Verse 13-14
Hoarding can be dangerous and set up for failure. Nothing wrong with saving, when done correctly and within reason
Verse 15
What did you bring into this world? That is all you are taking with you.
Verse 18-20
You can enjoy this life when you realize the pleasures are a gift from god and they are meant to be enjoyed for his glory
the devil always trys to sneak in and make us misuse the gifts or try to get us distracted with fake gifts

Ecclesiastes 6

Be Satisfied Chapter Seven: Is Life a Dead-End Street? (Ecclesiastes 6)

What a seeming tragedy it is to have all the resources for a satisfying life and yet not be able to enjoy them for one reason or another. More than one person has worked hard and looked forward to a comfortable retirement only to have a heart attack and become either an invalid or a statistic. Or perhaps the peace of retirement is shattered by a crisis in the family that begins to drain both money and strength. Why do these things happen?

Solomon mentioned this subject in 5:19 and hinted at it in 3:13. To him, it was a basic principle that nobody can truly enjoy the gifts of God apart from the God who gives the gifts. To enjoy the gifts without the Giver is idolatry, and this can never satisfy the human heart. Enjoyment without God is merely entertainment, and it doesn’t satisfy. But enjoyment with God is enrichment and it brings true joy and satisfaction.

Verse 3
How will your funeral look?
